Sheffield School of the Dance - Eastern Shore is a brand new, state of the art dance studio located in Fairhope, Alabama. Founded in 1943 by Mary Lou Sheffield-Noletto, Sheffield School of the Dance is the "Most Respected Name in Dance Training" for the entire Mobile/Baldwin Metro area, celebrating 76 YEARS! We are the 2016 & 2017 Nappie Award Winner for "BEST DANCE STUDIO" and are thrilled to kick off our 5th season on the Eastern Shore! Today, the studio, collectively, offers over 75 classes weekly, to nearly 500 students and is recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in technique, choreography, and explosive performances.
The studio's faculty is comprised of 10 teachers, all of whom have trained extensively and present their material in the most positive and professional manner possible.
Our Family Based Business is of the 2nd & 3rd Generation, carrying on Ms. Mary Lou's founding principles to dancers today! All ages and levels are taught from Age 3 thru Adults, and Beginner thru Advanced/Professional Level Classes. Celi Shinn - Director
Is a National Award Winning Choreographer and has been teaching since the age of 15. Growing up in the Sheffield School of the Dance family, she began her training at an early age and went on to work as a Professional Dancer and Faculty Member with the American Dance Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. She has choreographed for the America's Junior Miss program locally, and studied under Master Teachers and Dance Greats including Sonya Arova, Roni Mahler, Lea Darwin, Susan Quinn & Michael Williams, Luigi, Frank Hatchett, and the late Gus Giordano. In 1998 and 1999, Celi's choreography appeared on ESPN with Paula Abdul receiving 1st Overall National Champion Titles. Celi was recognized by New York City Dance Alliance in 2000 for "National Outstanding Choreography" and has achieved an astounding 30 "Best Of Show" titles at Tremaine National Finals including four "National Performance of the Year" titles from So You Think You Can Dance's, Wade Robson, Broadway Legend, Chita Rivera, Paula Abdul and Mitzi Gaynor. In 2005, Celi directed and produced Imagine... A Performance for Life, a benefit concert for Dancers Responding to AIDS. This project, which she claims to be her Most Rewarding Endeavor, was backed by the City of Mobile and drew tremendous community support by raising over $10,000 for this wonderful organization. In the summer of 2007, she received the prestigious honor of being named the "2007-08 Tremaine National Dance Teacher of the Year" for her continued love and commitment to the art of dance. Most recently, she choreographed Rock The Runway, a fashion benefit for America's Distinguished Young Women organization. In the summer of 2010, her choreography was nominated for "National Outstanding Choreography"and shared the stage with some of Broadway's Finest as a National "Critic's Choice Award" Finalist at the New York City Dance Alliance National Finale. In 2011, she attended the Tremaine Intensive in Hollywood, CA for master training with Toni Basil, Anthony Thomas of Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation and coached Miss America Finalist, Courtney Porter. Her students are currently working globally and can be seen with the American Ballet Theatre, The Radio City Rockettes, The Houston Ballet, The New York City Ballet, the MTV Video Music Awards and many more!
Colby Shinn - Director
COLBY SHINN: As a vibrant and versatile artist, Colby Shinn is one of the most recognized dancers in North America. He is from a 3rd generation professional dance family and has gone on to work with award winning choreographers for Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, So You Think You Dance, Dancing With The Stars and more! At the young age of 16, he was already a National Award Winning Choreographer, with his work being nationally awarded by Chita Rivera, Paula Abdul and Mitzi Gaynor. He just performed as a Principal Dancer in The Receipt, a National Commercial for Walmart directed by Seth Rogen & choreographed by Tricia Miranda which debuted at The Oscars 2017! His most recent projects include choreography for New York Fashion Week 2017, choreography featured on NBC's The Today Show and performing in 29th Annual Gypsy Awards in Hollywood, honoring Paula Abdul & Dick Van Dyke. He was the choreographer of the World War II film, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage starring Nicolas Cage & Matt Lanter. Other recent projects include being featured in Holding Patterns working alongside Freddie Highmore & Haley Joel Osment, choreographing the Two Way Crossing music video, Car Trouble, choreographing & starring in The George Twins' hit music video, Diana, and he was featured in the Bruce Willis film, Vice. In recent years, he performed with LeAnn Rimes on CMA Country Christmas airing on ABC, choreography featured on Britney Spears' official website for her #1 hit single Hold It Against Me, and performed in a tribute to Screen Legend, Ann-Margret. In 2012, his choreography garnered the attention of Gloria Estefan, for his work on the international company, DanceWorks Costa Rica. He can be seen as the Choreographer and Model in Marcea Costume / Active Wear Collection. He has choreographed and performed for the National Distinguished Young Women Organization including their Rock The Runway fashion benefit. His national award winning choreography for Major Universities, including the University of Alabama, has been featured on the UDA National Championships airing on ESPN. He has appeared in Dance Studio Life Magazine and awarded "Best Choreography" by Dance Spirit Magazine for recording artist, Lauren Hildebrandt. Stage credits include the 22nd Annual Gypsy Awards in Hollywood honoring TV / Film Icon, Mary Tyler Moore, the "Oscars of Fashion", The Michael Awards, in New York, and the Jazz Dance World Congress. Other television credits include performing with Paula Abdul on ESPN, E! News, the America's Junior Miss National Finals on BRAVO and Studio 10 on FOX. In his competitive days, he was a Seven-Time National Title Winner, including winning Debbie Allen's National FAMEUS Challenge, chosen by Raven Symone and being a 3-time "National Dancer of the Year" with Tremaine Dance Conventions, from which he became a Faculty member for nearly 10 years. Colby's newest endeavor is joining Break The Floor Productions where he is on Faculty with the largest convention tour in the world, JUMP Dance Convention! Colby's tremendous energy and emphasis on technique and style has put him in demand as an International Master Teacher and Choreographer, where he has recently worked in Canada, Mexico, the All You Can Dance Festival in Austria, and the Jazz Dance Fest Costa Rica for the past 6 years.
RALEY ZOFKO-ZAMPIERI: Has been dancing for 25 years. She is proficient in ballet, jazz, gymnastics and tap. The early years of her training were spent at Green Acres School of Dance and Dare 2 Dance in Robertsdale, Alabama. During her high school years, she was fortunate enough to dance at Sheffield School of the Dance and Mobile Ballet in Mobile, Alabama. Raley has won numerous awards at regional and national dance competitions along the way. After high school, she went on to continue her education at the University of South Alabama, as a Primary and Special Education major. There, Raley joined the University of South Alabama Prowlers Dance Team for four consecutive years. She was a staff member on Universal Dance Association's UDA 2012-2014 teams. One of Raley's biggest accomplishments is approaching her 10th anniversary with the Radio City Rockettes and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City. It's truly been a dream come true to say she has been able to dance her dream job for an entire decade. Raley has performed with the touring cast of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the New York Cast where she has performed on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, America's Got Talent on NBC and many other national TV and talk shows. When Raley is not kicking with her favorite ladies on the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall, she is enjoying the simple life on the Eastern Shore. Raley plans to continue kicking, dancing and spreading Christmas cheer until she graduates college, when she will pursue her other passion, teaching children, in order to provide for better and brighter future generations.
Rebekah has trained at the Sheffield School of the Dance for more than 25 years where she was both a dance assistant and member of the national award winning Sheffield Dancers. She has performed with the Parapluie Dance Company and as a soloist with the Azalea City Children's Ballet. She was a featured dancer in the Mobile Theatre Guild's musical productions of Cabaret and Chicago. She has performed in numerous productions at the Joe Jefferson Playhouse where she choreographed two full length stage musicals, 2010's The Full Monty and 2011's All Shook Up. She taught at Robin Adams Performing Arts Center in Pascagoula, MS for four years and has served as a guest teacher/ choreographer for various other area dance schools and teams. Rebekah is a graduate of Spring Hill College. She is married to Shane Womack and has a son, Jack. Rebekah is delighted to join the faculty at Sheffield School of the Dance, the school that fostered her love of dance.
Marissa Horstman was born in Mobile, Alabama and began her dance training with Sheffield School of the Dance at the very young age of three. Her love for dance flourished as she grew and began assisting the Sheffield Faculty as a demonstrator at age twelve. Throughout her years of competitive dance, she attended and won many scholarships and titles from Tremaine Dance Conventions, West Coast Dance Explosion, New York City Dance Alliance and NUVO. While competing for the title of West Coast Dance Explosion National Elite Dancer in 2008, Marissa had the opportunity to perform with Multi-Platinum and Grammy Nominated artist, Deborah Cox at their annual gala. By the age of 15, Marissa became a member of the Tremaine National Performance Company, allowing her to travel the United States, assisting and training under Joe Tremaine, Keri LaGrand, Derrick Schrader, Laurie Johnson, Marty Dew, Colby Shinn, Tony Bellisimo, Tiffany Maher and Meghan Sanett. In 2014, she starred in The George Twins' hit music video, "Diana" alongside professional dancer and choreographer, Colby Shinn. In 2014, Marissa was named Mobile County's Distinguished Young Woman, and went on to the State Finals in Montgomery, Alabama where she won a Talent Award and finished 2nd Runner-Up to the State title. Marissa is also a featured dancer in the World War II film, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, starring Nicolas Cage, releasing Veteran's Day 2016. After graduating high school, Marissa attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Crimson Cabaret dance team. Marissa is continuing her education in Mobile, Alabama at the University of South Alabama with a major in chemical engineering. Marissa is thrilled to join the Sheffield Eastern Shore faculty for the 2016-17 season!
2018-19 Tuition Rates / Policies
We request that tuition be paid on the first of each month. There is a Late Charge of $10 for tuition paid after the 15th of the month. For the month of June, you will pay only half of your tuition rate. Note: For each additional hour of class per week add $24 (or $6 for each quarter hour e.g. 4 1/4 hours of class per week = $141/Month and 5 Hours class per week = $159/month, etc.) The rates are listed below: Hrs Per Week
