About Us

Schantz Haus is the Homestead of Joseph Schantz, (Johns), the Amishman who founded the city of Johnstown.The homestead is currently a dairy farm owned and operated by Bill and Jeanette Hunsberger and sons. The farm sits on 120 acres of land providing woods, pasture, cropland and housing for a one hundred and fifty cow, Holstein herd. The farm is located in Davidsville, easily accessed off of Rt. 219 and close to other locations of historical significance. Opportunity to learn Johnstown's story, explore coal mining history, experience life on a dairy farm, and much more is available to you by visiting Schantz Haus.
