this room offers flexibility in sleeping arrangements because the spacious room has two beds a queen with an antique headboard and an antique winsor bed. the winsor bed (a murphy-type bed) looks like an armoire when it is raised and opens into a 34 bed with a specially made mattress when lowered. the original paperwork for the winsor bed shows a patent pending date of 1895. you can use the victorian cottage room as a single room, a double room or share with family or friends and split the rate when you travel in the elmira/corning, ny area. robes (2), clock radio, cd player, cable tv, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, overhead fan, air conditioning, wireless internet access (wifi) are provided for your convenience.

simplicity is the theme in the early american room at rufus tanner house. the bed and breakfast guestroom has a double four-poster bed (originally a rope bed) with a patchwork quilt and white curtains around the headboard and sides. warm pine tones in the original wide plank floorboards, the bed and a stickley loveseat add warmth to the cozy room. a large window in the room overlooks the back deck, hillside and back garden, and a large window in the attached private bath overlooks the side gardens. air conditioning, clock radio/cd player, hair dryer, cable tv and wifi are provided for your convenience.

About Us
Rufus Tanner House bed and breakfast is named after the second owner of this wonderful old Greek Revival farmhouse. It was built in 1864, and Donna and Rick Powell, the innkeepers, are only the sixth owners. Records show that Edwin Nourse, the first owner, lived in the house for six years. He was a dairy farmer and town justice of the peace.
