Sparkling
Featured Non-Vintage Champagne
Brice, "Heritage", Brut
$138.00
The Brice family has called the Grand Cru village of Bouzy home since the 17th century but didn't start making Champagne as we know it until just after World War II. The three generations since the family's pivot from red wine to sparkling made quick work of creating classically styled Champagne to compete with the best in the region. The complexity and nuance in this cuvée is due in large part to their standard of including a much higher proportion of reserve wines in the blend than required by law.

$294.00
As one of the founding members of the "Special Club," Didier Gimonnet and a handful of other Champagne grower-producers banded together in 1971 to pool marketing resources for their top cuvées—the only way they could compete with the giant "Doms" and "Dames" in their world. Gimonnet chooses to highlight Chardonnay in his "Special Club" bottling, making one of the most terroir-driven expressions of citrus and minerality coming out of Champagne.

White Loire
Featured Loire Valley Wine
Touraine-Chenonceaux, Vignoble Gibault, 2020
$71.00
You can think of the region of Touraine-Chenonceaux as a (somewhat more difficult to pronounce) cousin of Sancerre. Although the soils of the former have a bit more gravel than Sancerre, the two regions share a similar type of crumbly limestone, which gives them both an irresistible mineral streak. The main grape— Sauvignon Blanc—is also shared, however the region of Touraine is generally warmer and therefore produces a slightly rounder, juicier style of wine that is just as enjoyable.

Alsace
Featured Alsatian Wine
Marcel Deiss, Engelgarten, 2017
$121.00
In a region as old as Alsace, where winemaking dates back to the second century, innovation is usually uncommon and at worst, frowned upon. But that's exactly what makes the wines of Marcel Deiss so exciting (and what makes the man himself so controversial). Instrumental in changing Alsatian labeling laws to allow for blends, he believes more in showcasing the unique qualities of vineyards planted with multiple grapes over the individuality of a single grape. This field blend (of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and other Alsatian varietals) from the sparse, gravelly soils of Engelgarten is a must for any white wine lover looking for something new.

Featured Premier Cru Chablis
Jean-Marc Brocard, Vau de Vey, 2022
$129.00
"If you ever needed one, Chablis is the almost perfect manifestation, and proof, of terroir itself." - Peter Dean, 2017 Peter Dean's quote speaks directly to the Premier Cru vineyard of Vau de Vey, one of the most beautiful in Chablis. Located directly across the Serein River from the seven Grand Cru vineyards, Vau de Vey shares the same limestone-clay soils as the Grand Crus. As if that weren't enough, the final wine is in the hands of the impassioned Jean-Marc Brocard, whose years of sustainable farming add even more depth & complexity to the final product.

The Wines of Domaine Raveneau
Domaine Raveneau
François Raveneau's wines gained a cult following decades ago, with wine lovers around the world jumping at the chance to get their hands on anything available. The Domaine has barely grown in size since the initial purchase of a handful of small vineyards within the best Premier & Grand Cru land right after establishment in 1948. Still farmed by François' sons and granddaughter, these small plots combined only equal about eight city blocks and exist on land more coveted than Fifth Avenue.

Featured Bourgogne Blanc
Xavier Monnot, "Les Grandes Coutures", 2021
$109.00
In the heart of Burgundy lie three petite villages stacked on top of each other with one thing in common: they have become synonymous with the finest Chardonnay in the world. The vines that make up this wine in particular border the largest and most prolific village of the three: Meursault, which is known for yielding rich, round and complex Chardonnay with just the right amount of oak. The vines range in age from 15 to over 50 years and are tended by by third-generation winemaker Xavier Monnot, who prioritizes nuance, concentration, and purity in his wines.

Featured Premier Cru Chassagne-Montrachet
Lucien Le Moine, Morgeot, 2020
$439.00
To say that this is where some of the world's most respected Chardonnay is produced would be an understatement. Characterized by an instantaneous attack of minerality followed by an unforgettable silken texture, Chassagne-Montrachet is not always easy to acquire, but well worth the hunt. The husband and wife duo behind Lucien Le Moine may be relatively new to the scene but they have quickly become masters of some of the most classic Chassagne out there. The two of them are solely responsible for all hand-harvested grapes that go into the 2-3 barrels they produce each year from this highly regarded Premier Cru vineyard.

Featured Grand Cru Producer
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
No winery is more famous or produces such legendary wines in Burgundy than Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The domaine has been co-owned by two families, the de Villaine's & the Roch's/Leroy's, since 1942. Aubert de Villaine, a humble, charming & highly intelligent vigneron, who is acutely conscious of the history of the domaine & the responsibility he bears towards it, has been the manager & face of the domaine since 1991, when Lalou Bize-Leroy left to focus on her own domaine. Often abbreviated as DRC, the winery makes some of the most exclusive wines in the world, and 98% of their vineyard holdings are in Grand Cru vineyards, including their 2 "monopoles", La Tâche & Romanée-Conti. DRC's wines, for those lucky enough to have tried them, are regarded as the pinnacle of Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.

White Bordeaux
Featured Bordeaux White
Château La Garde, Pessac-Léognan, 2020
$119.00
Although it's primarily known as a stand-alone grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc can also make a great blending partner under the right circumstances. Some of those circumstances include growing in the pristine gravel soils of Château La Garde within Pessac-Léognan. Others include pairing up with the exceedingly complementary blending partner, Sémillon. The soil contributes to the wine's powerfully pure aromatics, while the Sémillon serves to fill out the midpalate & body, creating a whole that is more complex, more intriguing than the sum of its parts.

That's a long string up German words up there. Let's break it down. Bollig-Lehnert is a tiny family-run winery that own 10 acres of land in Germany's impossibly steep Mosel River region. Piesport is a small town between two 90-degree bends in the Mosel River. Within Piesport are two Erste Lage, or "Premier Cru" vineyards, one of which is Goldtröpfchen, which means "droplets of gold." Finally, Spätlese indicates that the Riesling grapes were picked a little late, meaning this wine has a honeyed sweetness balanced by zippy citrus & slate.

The G.O.A.T. - Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretzky - there has always been discussion, no matter what the subject is: who is the greatest of all time? Sometimes it's clear cut, sometimes arguments can be made for one over the other. In the case of dry German Riesling, there is one house that stands above the rest: Weingut Keller. The estate has been in the hands of the Keller family since 1789, and ninth generation winemaker Klaus-Peter crafts some of the most breathtaking dry Rieslings in all of Germany, if not the world.

Austria
Featured Austrian Riesling
Malat, "Furth", Kremstal, 2021
$57.00
It's a shame that the wines of Austria don't garner the same excitement as the other great wines of the world. The country shares a centuries-old winegrowing history with much of Europe dating back to the Celtic tribes and subsequently the Romans. One of their leading white grapes is Riesling, which is almost always made in a dry style. This is a textbook example of exciting, mineral-driven dry Riesling made by Michael Malat, the 10th generation of Malats to make wine at the estate.
Wachau Riesling
Federspiel, Franz Hirtzberger, "Steinterrassen", 2016
Etna is unlike any other wine producing region in the world. Most notoriously known as the home of Europe's highest active volcano, Mount Etna, one would not consider this to be an ideal place to grow grapes; dangerously steep rocky soils, unpredictable weather, and the threat of volcanic eruption at any point! Very few are up for the challenge of making wine under such extreme circumstances. The work of these daring vintners combined with the region's indigenous white varietals result in wines like "Nerina": energetic fruit and fresh minerality with an elegant structure—making Etna Bianco the next big thing for Burgundy lovers.

Matthew Wallace, "Hardin Ranch", Napa Valley, 2021
$79.00
Matthew and Alicia Harden can trace their family roots back to some of the earliest settlers in the Napa Valley. The first of Matthew's predecessors came to the Pope Valley as a 49er from Kentucky in 1852. Matthew has partnered with winemaking legend Thomas Rivers Brown to craft wines from impeccable sites throughout Napa and Sonoma. An 1881 issue of the Napa County Reporter refers to the Hardin Ranch as "the garden spot of the world," and the fruit from this vineyard has always been heralded as some of the best in the Valley. Located on the morning side of Howell Mountain, the vineyard benefits from an early blast of sunlight, imparting a beautiful, supple fruit quality, while retaining intense minerality from the gravelly mountain soil.

Featured Beaujolais
Brouilly, Alex Foillard, 2019
$112.00
For the region of Beaujolais, the 1980s were simultaneously a bright and dark time. Beaujolais Nouveau, a simplified, generic version of Beaujolais, gained popularity across America, but that popularity started to adversely affect the way all Beaujolais was made. Luckily, four courageous vintners stood up to the commercialization of their region and started to promote the individual terroir of each of Beaujolais' distinct crus. One of those four was Jean Foillard, and his son Alex has taken his father's craft and run with it, creating a beautiful terroir-driven expression of the volcanic soil laden cru of Brouilly. The wine has dark, brooding fruit, a slight smoky minerality and a silky rusticity.

Under the mentorship of his father, fourth-generation winemaker Jean-Marc Pillot has raised his family's already renowned estate to an even higher standard by boasting a newly renovated cellar, tightening vinification quality measures, and expanding the estate's vineyard acreage. While his white wines take the spotlight, his robust yet soft Pinot Noir bottlings fly under the radar. "Mes Vieilles Vignes" comes from 60-year-old vines and offers a stunning value-driven representation of Chassagne-Montrachet's terroir and of Pillot's skillful yet gentle winemaking philosophy.

Featured Morey-Saint-Dennis Premier Cru
Lignier-Michelot, Faconnières, 2014
$234.00
With roots going back well into the 19th century, Virgile Lignier joined his father in the late 1990s and has turned the family domaine into one of the finest producers in the Morey-St.-Denis appellation. This Premier Cru vineyard, according to Virgile, has Grand Cru potential within it. "You just can't make bad wine here," he often has said. Named for the falcons that circle around the site, the first vines were planted over 80 years ago—incredibly old and rare for vineyards. With an outstanding and concentrated vintage like 2014, the probability of "not bad" wine in this bottle is extremely high.

Grand Cru Burgundy may be the most profoundly titled wine of them all. Sacrificing none of the delicacies or nuances while also featuring depth & concentration, the classification is understandably hard to live up to. This unique site receives a more significant downdraft of air which keeps the vines cooler and yields a wine of exceptional elegance and balance. These wines perform best when allowed to purely represent the vineyard with little to no bells or whistles.

Clos Margalaine, Margaux, 2014
$168.00
Philippe Porcheron acquired this small garagiste estate in 1998, located just outside the tiny village of Margaux. The Romans had referred to this place as "Marojallia," the name bestowed on the château. The "grand vin" debut in 1999 and made waves as on of the Medoc's first "Garage Wines:'' no bells and whistles, just good juice in a no-frills bottle. Renowned consultant Michel Rolland joined the team with the 2001 vintage and the estate continues to be one of the best boutique producers in Bordeaux. Located right down the street from first-growth Château Margaux and second-growth Rauzan-Segla, "Clos Margalaine" is the second label of the estate, and this "little" producer packs a big punch with quality, elegance, and finesse.

If ever there were a name synonymous with the Rhône, it would be that of Jean-Louis Chave. The family began making Hermitage in 1481, passing down wisdom through the generations to create some of the most perfectly balanced wines available. Traditionalists to the core, the key to the perfect balance of his wines is the remarkable blending skill, which is showcased in all of his wine from the top Hermitage to his thoughtful Côtes du Rhône.

Featured Barbaresco
Moccagatta, 2020
$126.00
Once kept in the shadows of the family business in Patriarchal Italy, recent societal changes are bringing forth a new generation of women in wine. Among these rising stars is Martina Minuto, who serves as enologist for Moccagatta and is the now fifth-generation proprietor of the estate. Perhaps it's the nearly 40-year-old Nebbiolo vines, maybe it's the female touch, but this is Barbaresco at its finest: with elegance, finesse, and substantive depth.
Hailing from the village of San Casciano in the heart of Chianti (the very same as the famed Antinori "Tignanello" bottling), it's safe to say these hills are capable of world-class Sangiovese. It only helps that the husband and wife team behind Cigliano di Sopra pay such careful attention to their wine that their third family dog's name is Alice III. The way they make their Chianti—with whole-berry fermentation and neutral oak aging—allows the terroir of this small village to shine. This is not your average Chianti Classico.

$81.00
The Catena family not only has strong roots in Argentinian winemaking, they can also boast some of the very first. Nicola Catena, an Italian immigrant, planted his first vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina in 1902. Now in its fourth generation as a family-run winery, each family member has played a major role in enhancing the reputation and quality of Argentinian wines. This 100% Malbec is sourced from the estate's own 30-year-old, high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, a prestigious sub-region of Mendoza.

George, "Hansen", Russian River Valley, 2022
$116.00
George Levkoff has quite the impressive resume: a graduate degree from University of Chicago, a decade spent as a US bond trader, which he abruptly quit to start an internship at Williams Selyem in order to explore his true passion for wine. The best part? He is the least pretentious, most caring farmer you'll ever meet. He makes Pinot Noir that reads Burgundian on the nose and Sonoman on the palate, only makes three cuvées, and even more incredibly, only makes 200 or fewer cases of each. Who better to create and personally bottle your Pinot Noir than the same person who cares for the vines year round?

Sinegal, Napa Valley, 2021
$165.00
Although it is one of Napa Valley's newest wineries, Sinegal inherits the long tradition of the property it now inhabits: the old Inglewood Estate. The family now at the helm is the fifth to own the estate since the first grapes were planted there in 1881. They pride themselves on the rich heritage they were given in 2013; a heritage symbolized by the skeleton key on their minimal label, the same as they were handed down upon acquiring the estate. But all of this doesn't mean they are stuck in the past; in fact, they have made impressive technological advances in the winery that prove they look to the future as much as the past.

While Cabernet Sauvignon tends to take center stage in California, its parent grape, Cabernet Franc, is largely overlooked. Lang & Reed is a family-owned winery based in Napa Valley that specializes in bringing Cabernet Franc into the spotlight, showcasing its freshness and versatility through a balanced and restrained winemaking process. The result is an easy-drinking, lighter bodied, food-friendly wine that fares well with a variety of cuisines.

Champagne, Saint-Chamant, Blanc de Blancs, Brut, NV
$106.00
Established in Épernay in 1930 by Pierre and Hélène Coquillette, it was their son, Christian, who innovated and made this small estate into one of the most fascinating grower-producers in all the Côte des Blancs. The secret to their success? Every step done by hand, with great care and focus. Well into his 90s, Christian was still outside in the vineyards tending to his vines, riddling bottles in the cellar, and leaving a familial impression on each one to leave the estate. His son Stéphane has continued the long-standing tradition of singularity with every bottle: they are not disgorged until an order is received to be shipped. This means that each one is slightly different than the one before it, a slow process of development within each bottle day after day. Pop one open to experience a special moment in time from the chalk caves of Champagne.

Tokaji: a dessert wine so nuanced and impressive that Catherine the Great set up a garrison in the town of Tokaji to protect its delivery.
