Lauren Toracinta
Founder/Instructor - Do what you love. That's how Lauren has lived her life and it is obvious through the passion and commitment she gives to her yoga classes and all other endeavors. Raised in CT, Lauren spent her summers in RI, where she began her love affair with the ocean and the beach. Her fascination with the ocean and coasts led her to pursue a degree in Coastal Policy and Management form the University of Rhode Island. Self proclaimed gym rat turned yogi; Lauren quit the gym and dedicated herself to her yoga practice when she discovered Baptiste Power Yoga. She loved the connection between the mind and body, movement and stillness, breath and strength. Her practice has taught her that yoga is more than a physical workout, but a way of being. She has taken her practice off the mat by serving in numerous non-profit organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation and Yoga Reaches Out; to founding and opening the Rhode Island Yoga Center at the URI Kingston Emporium. "URI is a very special place with a strong sense of community and partnership. What better place for people to share and create their dreams." Lauren is a graduate of the Northeast Power Yoga 200-hr Certification Program; and has trained and studied under yoga masters, Tamsy Markham, Jane Cargill, Masaki Okamura, Coeli Marsh, Philip Urso, Coral Brown and many other amazing teachers. Cameron Cleveland
Instructor - Yoga found Cameron Cleveland. Cameron enlisted in the United States Navy in 2004 at the age of 18. After his tour in Iraq, Cameron returned to the East Coast, where he attended University of Rhode Island for Biological Studies. It was in the small ocean state of Rhode Island, he felt the wave. He realized that life's upheavals are not settled. Cameron made his way to Westerly, RI and started yoga at a local, downtown studio. Instantly, he knew he had something to share. Cameron's voice spreads through his taking on challenges, his honesty, loyalty, and his ability to draw the line in support of the people who have and continue to put their lives on the line. Samantha Gardiner
Instructor - As long as I can remember I have done boot camp style fitness. Before I started teacher training I thought I was fit, until I started doing yoga daily! The beginning of 2014 it was a friend who convinced me to take a yoga class with her. I have always been intrigued by yoga, so I went to Emma's all levels class. Not only was I impressed with the workout I received, I felt calm, yet confused. I decided to go back for a second class. During my second class I realized I was feeling a connection. A connection to what, I didn't know. I felt a strong pull to go back again and again. By my 5th class I realized I was connecting within myself and it felt fantastic! I then decided to join teacher training. I went to class with an open mind willing to learn with the hopes of teaching. Completing my 200hr NEPY training I am now fit inside and out; I am balanced. I am still in awe of all of the benefits from doing yoga. I am hopeful to continue learning through my yoga practice. I am eager to spread the yoga love and lead others within yoga. NAMASTE: My soul honors your soul. I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the light, love, truth, beauty, and peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one.
