"Rex" has been synonymous with quality Italian foods in the Chicagoland area for decades. Contrary to popular belief there is no "Rex". Its just the Latin word for 'King'. Rex has been King of the Italian delis since the late 1960's when two Italian brothers by the name Cinquino opened up on Chicago's west side. They later moved their business to Chicago's north side by the Harlem & Foster area where they stayed in business for years. The name later re-surfaced in 1993 at our current location 4431N Harlem Ave., where we have been keeping up with the Rex tradition.
