Natural Wine is farmed organically and made without adding or removing anything in the cellar. No additives or processing aids are used, and 'intervention' in the fermentation process is kept to a minimum. As such, no filtration is used. The result is a living wine - wholesome and full of naturally occurring microbiology. We love traditionally made wines, but share an interest with Bon Raisin, an importer of natural wines, in this new production method. These wines are different, but are all excellent expressions of their grape, region, and their terroir.
Victor Beau, Domaine Inebriati, Orea 2017 Blanc
The grape is Terret Blanc from 70-year old vines. Grown in Corconne, near Pic St. Loup, in the Languedoc. Interesting and rich, but only 12.5%. Glou-glou (French for gluggable)
Remi Poujol 2016 Le Temps Fait Tout, Blanc
Grape: Ugni Blanc & Viognier, and 100 year-old Clairette.. From Adissan in Languedoc, on sandy limestone soils. Fresh. Super pretty nose of white flowers. Dry and lovely
Sylvain Bock, NE Fait Pas Sans Blanc 2016, Rhone Ardeche
70% Chardonnay and 30% Grenache Blanc Slight haze here, as its unfiltered. And has that purity of flavor. Unripe melon on nose with some chalk there too. One of the first natural wines I tried, and fell in love with. Funky in a very good way
Donkey & Goat 2010 Stone Crusher, El Dorado (Orange)
Sylvain Bock 2016 Raffut
All Syrah grown on clay-limestone soils. From Valvigneres in the Ardech region of France, east of Burgundy. Mouth-filling tannins, rich and delightful.
Victor Beau, Domaine Inebriati, Naia 2016
This is a very southern French blend of Carignan, Cinsault, and Aramon. From the town of Corconne, in the Languedoc. These grapes were pressed and fermented together – a very old school style of wine making. Very dense color. Sage & 5-spice on nose. Violets. Delicious
Marc Barriot, Clot de L'origine 2016 Soif de Plaisir
Carignan from 60-year old vines and young vines Syrah. From Roussillon area in France. This is classic southern French Carignan, with its lovely bouquet. Great length, lighterbodied with black and red fruit. Pretty on palate.
Ampeleia 2016 "Unlitro," Costa Toscana Rosso, Grape: Grenache
A lighter-bodied red, it is pure of heart, and again refreshing. Comes in a liter.
Coturri 2003 Côte des Cailloux, Sonoma, Grenache Syrah and Mourvèdre
One of the original natural wines, from California. We opened one of these in late 2018, and it showed beautifully.
Domaine Rimbert 2015 "Les Travers de Marceau," Saint Chinian, Languedoc
