About Us
In the early 90s European pubs that served local or traditional cuisine began adding the term gastro to their name to express their commitment to fine food as well as drink—and a new genre of restaurant was born. The movement has now reached the south with Recess Southern Gastro Pub.
The first known southern gastro pub, Recess features a unique twist on southern American cuisine in a lively social environment. Our name, Recess, was chosen due to our close proximity to the Federal and County Courthouses and our dedication to providing the perfect spot for that much needed break.
