Pizzeria Scotty is the culmination of my restaurant career dating back nearly 40 years. In 1968, at the age of 15, I got my first restaurant job working as a busboy at Arlington Park Racetrack in suburban Chicago. From that point on, I hoped that someday my name would be on the sign over the front door of my own business. With few exceptions, I have spent my entire life in the hospitality business.
During the summer of 1972, in the waning years of the Vietnam era, I was drafted into military service. I chose to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Having the ambition to excel, I was twice meritoriously promoted and within 17 months achieved the rank of non-commissioned officer.
Upon my honorable discharge in 1974, until the present, I have worked in the restaurant and hospitality business as a busboy, dishwasher, cook, bartender, manager and general manager. In August of 1985, I moved to Wisconsin to open and manage a new pizzeria located at 9809 W. Oklahoma Avenue in Milwaukee, exactly where Pizzeria Scotty is located today. Since early 1995, I have been the sole owner of that pizzeria.
