The name says it all. Not only does Perfect Balance Healing Arts Studio have a very relaxing and "balanced" vibe, it also has practitioners that can help improve the balance for your mind and body. Intuitive and observant, Susan customizes our Pilates sessions with exercises that work to eliminate pain and enhance stability. She is knowledgeable about anatomy and muscle mechanics. I've been taking Pilates at Perfect Balance Studio for two years, and in that time I have gained more muscle strength than I have ever had in my life. Susan is also a Practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu (similar to acupressure). I was surprised by how much it helped restore my energy. The studio also offers classes and other healing disciplines. I would highly recommend this healing place.

Jin Shin Jyutsu
Jin Shin Jyutsu is used to release pain, restore emotional equilibrium, and address the effects of stress, fatigue, illness and injury.
Our bodies contain energy pathways that feed life into all of our cells.
When one or more of these paths become blocked, this damming effect may lead to discomfort or even pain. This blockage or stagnation will not only disrupt the local area but will continue and eventually disharmonize the complete path or paths of the energy flow.
JIN SHIN JYUTSU is the Art of releasing tensions which are the causes for various symptoms in the body.
With Jin Shin Jyutsu we nurture the ability to harmonize and balance ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® Literally Translated is
Art of the Creator through man of knowing and compassion. More information and the history of Jin Shin Jyutsu can be found at www.jsjinc.net.

When I first met Susan, I thought working with her was only about exercising and Pilates. I overlooked the fact that I had some very annoying back problems as well. But Susan didn't overlook them, and with our sessions she helped me feel better and stronger. I've been with Susan and the studio for many years now and above all, it's been a joy to be here and I feel I'm in better shape than I ever was.
About the Perfect Balance Team
Susan Liebowitz (Owner/Director)
My vision for Perfect Balance has evolved from my experiences as a patient recovering from my own injuries, and as a growing practitioner. Struggling to recover after an auto accident, I endured pain and headaches for many, many years. While pursuing a performing arts career in professional dance, I began to have more problems. Following a recommendation from a mentor, I was fortunate to experience several complementary therapies in the healing arts and somatic disciplines. This is when my healing journey began. I began to transition to a new career by studying several modalities which were of immense value in my healing. In 1997 I graduated from a four year Feldenkrais Practitioner Training Program in Berkeley, where I learned movement education and therapy. Next I became licensed by the State Board of Florida to practice Neuromuscular Therapy and Massage, followed by certification as a Pilates teacher in California. Because of the complementary modalities and Pilates, I now enjoy my life without constant pain. It feels like a wonderful gift was shared with me, and this learning has been the way to better health. My joy is to share what I know to help others. My background includes working with Healthwell Physical Therapy and A Body of Work, both in San Francisco. In Walnut Creek my work continued with the offices of Frances Langley D.C. and the Center For Sports Medicine (St. Francis Hospital) in Walnut Creek.

I have been taking Pilates privates and classes with Susan for over 15 years. When I first started, I was in terrible pain with a back problem and was unable to exercise or function normally. Within a few sessions I began to feel positive about my recovery. For this reason I have continued with Susan and her associates as she expanded her studio. Susan is truly the best. She continues to expand her knowledge in the healing arts with classes and seminars so I'm continually learning during our sessions. Her kind and caring nature also makes it enjoyable, and I always look forward to it.
