When Stephen Payne decided to make his home in Grant County, Indiana, after a long journey from England to Los Angeles took him finally on a pilgrimage to the birth place of James Dean, Paynes Custard and Coffee was born. Built to provide a charismatic and eclectic venue for locals to relax and socialize, Payne's has developed into a full-service restaurant that offers an intimate and unique dining experience. Hidden just off Exit 259 on the I69, where the communities of Marion, Gas City, and Upland join, Payne's is a true hidden treasure in Grant County, Indiana that the locals adore and travelers make a point to stop and visit.
Stop by for a wide range of healthy and nutritious breakfasts, your morning coffee, or enjoy your lunch on the terrace with the delicious Soup du Jour, wonderful fresh salads and specialty sandwiches. In the evening Payne's offers an innovative dinner menu that's often changing, all made with the freshest local ingredients and pasture raised meat. Payne's closely supports local art and culture, and often hosts acoustic concerts, as well as art/photography shows throughout the year. We have selected the best Indiana craft beers and boutique wines to complement our meals.
