ADAM DESIENA PURCHASES DOC JAMES TOBACCO SHOP
Originally opened in 1938 by Harold James, the shop specialized in selling custom blended pipe tobacco and pipes. When Adam bought the business in 1993, he shifted the business toward premium cigars and accessories. Word rapidly spread that Doc James Tobacco Shop was the place in Northern Westchester to purchase high quality, top-notch cigars. Doc James Tobacco flourished.
BUILDING THE BUSINESS
After owning Doc James for 10 years, Adam decided to combine his love of golf with his love of cigars. His partner in this new venture would be his wife, Heidi, an experienced golf buyer and merchandiser.
WHY DOC JAMES CIGARS & GOLF?
The simple answer: golfers love to smoke cigars when they are on the golf course. The DeSiena's saw and seized an opportunity: Create one-stop shopping for the premium cigar smoker and the avid golfer.
DOC JAMES CIGARS IS BORN
Strong consumer demand prompts Doc James to move from its original storefront into a modern 1,400 square foot space. Humidified display cases house premium cigars along with a smoking lounge so patrons can relax and enjoy their smoke. Tommy Bahama apparel lines the far wall, along with Callaway Golf ball and accessories.
