Class List
Announcing: Apr Online Classes with Judy Landecker & Charles Udell Beginning Monday, Apr 1, 2024, Judy Landecker & Charles Udell will be offering classes via Zoom. The classes will run through Wednesday, Apr 24 and will likely be continued after that. Judy Landecker (or Charles Udell) will teach a general asana class on Mondays from 4:30pm through 5:30pm Pacific Time. This class will be open to all levels. Mondays: Apr 1, 8, 15, 22 On Wednesdays 4:30pm through 5:30pm Pacific Time. Charles (or Judy) will teach a class for students with structural therapeutics needs. This will include but not be limited to issues with low back, hips, knees, neck, and shoulders. It is open to all levels. Each class will focus on different structural issues and how to use Yoga to help deal with them. Wednesdays: Apr 3, 10, 17, 24 The cost for the Monday classes is $40 for the month. The cost for Wednesday classes is $40 for the month. You may also pay $11 per class as a drop in. If you are interested, send an e-mail to jmypal@aol.com with Online Class Sign-up in the Subject line. Be sure to include what class or classes in which you are interested. We will respond with a form to complete and information on how to pay. The message will also include a list of props that are necessary (with some ideas for prop substitutions where that makes sense). We have some props for sale. It will also include instructions on the required steps once you have joined us in the class on Zoom. Be sure to follow these instructions carefully. Not doing so could spoil your experience of the class and the experience of others as well. Once we have received your payment, we will issue an invitation to the class that will include a link to join us via Zoom.

Except for Drop-ins, you must register for class. Class size is limited. Drop-ins please call in advance.

Please wear shorts or footless tights & a T-shirt.
Class Description
Level I
This class covers the foundations of alignment and the balance between strength and flexibility. Basic standing and seated postures, twists, forward bends, shoulder stand, relaxation and breath awareness. It is recommended that you repeat Level I several times.
Level II
For continuing students with one year of recent Yoga study. More emphasis on endurance, alignment, and the introduction of head stands and backbends.
Level III
For experienced students who are familiar with standing, seated, inversions, and backbends. We will introduce Pranayama (the study of breath) in this class.
Low Backs, Hips, and Knees
Yoga postures that address: common issues with low backs, hips, and knees. Students under the care of a physician should verify their attendance in this class with their care giver. Attendance in this class requires prior permission of the teacher. You may be required to attend Restoratives for one or more sessions before joining this class.
Restorative
A gentle class that addresses: physical and emotional fatigue of injury or illness and treatment and recovery; relaxation and breathing techniques are part of every class.
Neck & Shoulders
Yoga postures that address: common issues with necks and shoulders. Students under the care of a physician should verify their attendance in this class with their care giver. Attendance in this class requires prior permission of the teacher. You may be required to attend Restoratives for one or more sessions before joining this class.
General Asana via Zoom
A general asana class open to all levels.
Yoga for Structural Issues via Zoom
Wednesday evening will be a "Structural Therapeutics" class covering how to use Yoga to deal with structural issues.
The End of In-Person Classes at Northern Lights Yoga - Postponed
Dear Students – We want to thank all of our students for the last 30 years of yoga in Helena. We feel so fortunate to have shared our love of yoga with you and that finally finding our "dream studio" to teach from was, for us, a true lifetime accomplishment. After a combined 86 years of teaching yoga, including 30 years in Helena and other places in MT, we now look forward to our "semi-retirement" including spending more time with our family and continuing our life-long practice of yoga. Also, these past 2 years have been very hard on our ability to keep the studio open. While a number of students have been very generous in helping us seek to attain the goal of paying the rent on the studio, we have not had enough students to cover the cost of rent, insurance, and other necessary expenses. We have taken care of these things personally for most of the last wo years After lengthy discussions amongst ourselves and some of our long-term students, we have concluded that we will be closing the Northern Lights Yoga studio effective April 30 this year. We will continue to teach our Zoom classes for at least the near future. We hope we have given you enough tools and inspiration to continue your practice of yoga. We will be selling most of our props and will open the studio for that purpose soon. We will not be taking any advance prop requests, please watch for our e-mail announcing the sale.
