Northern Lights Gymnastics' goals are to introduce basic motor skills and coordination while providing a challenge to each growing child.
The focus for the younger children is on teaching spatial awareness, socialization and the simplest gymnastics skills. As the children grow the focus moves on to more intricate motor and gymnastics skills. We use unique games, encouragement and discipline to ensure that it is rewarding for all levels. Specialized preschool equipment makes learning safe and fun and gives children a chance to use and develop their bodies as they climb, jump, swing and tumble. We also introduce rhythmic gymnastics to the children through the use of ribbons, hoops, and balls. We keep classes small and friendly.
The following classes for preschoolers use a structured class format that includes a musical warm-up
two circuits, games and use of the trampoline and foam-filled "pit". Circuits are circles of apparatus, including small beams, bars, hills, blocks, tunnels, etc.
Baby Bears
classes are early exploration classes designed for our youngest children (aged 16 - 24 months). Children attend with an accompanying adult, with a maximum of two adults per child.
Me and My Shadow
classes are for children aged 2 through 3 1/2 years. Children attend with an accompanying adult, with a maximum of two adults per child.
3, 3 1/2, 4, and 5 year old classes.
Children taking these classes attend without an accompanying adult. Each age group works skills within the class that are developmentally appropriate and challenging.
Classes
The following classes for preschoolers use a slightly different class structure:
4-5 Challenge
4-5 Challenge lasses are designed for children aged 4 and 5. Students enrolled in this class need to have participated in a previous 4 or 5 year class. This class includes a musical warm up, one circuit, a game, instruction on individual pieces of apparatus as well as the trampoline and foam-filled "pit".
Kimotion
Kimotion classes are "Kids in Motion" classes for children aged 4 and 5. These classes use music and movement in a game format as well as one gymnastics circuit per class. The children also have a musical warm up and game, as well as making use of the trampoline and "pit".
Preschool Trampoline
Preschool Trampoline classes include a musical warm up, one circuit, a game, plus use of both the long and big trampolines. The class is designed for 4 and 5 year olds.
3,4,5 Fun
3,4,5 Fun is a relatively new age grouping with our normal preschool structure. This class gives kids of different age groups a chance to work together. This class also allows additional options for siblings, homeschooled children and friends of different ages.
Home School/Fitness
Home School/Fitness classes will add fitness to your homeschooler's curriculum in a circuit training format. Build strength, agility, flexibility and self esteem while having fun on our trampoline, foam pit, bars and other equipment. Class must be finished by 3:30 pm.
Monday Mania, Wacky Wednesday, Fun Friday
Monday Mania, Wacky Wednesday, Fun Friday are classes for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Each week we will have a musical warmup, game, one circuit and one special focus (e.g., big trampoline, challenge, fitness, pit).
Open Gym Class
Open Gym Class gives children aged 16 months through kindergarten an opportunity to explore the gym at their own pace. Staff members are available to give instruction on our specialized equipment and on gymnastics skills. All children attend with an accompanying adult and walk-ins are welcome.

Recreational Gymnastics: Kindergarten - Adults
Recreational gymnastics classes are for school-aged boys and girls who are interested in learning the basics of the sport in a fun and noncompetitive environment. Classes are arranged somewhat by age; however, within each class, students are grouped by skill level. Instruction is provided on each piece of gymnastics apparatus and all students participate in basic stretching and conditioning.
Mini Lights, Moon Lights, Future Stars and Morning Stars
Mini Lights, Moon Lights, Future Stars and Morning Stars are our comprehensive recreation classes for girls. The four classes are similar in content, but vary in age requirement, days and times they are offered, as well as the length of the class. Each class provides instruction in floor, bars, beam and vault as well as our long trampoline. Younger children all work on the same skills while older girls may work on the pieces of apparatus at their own, varying, levels.
Orbiters
Orbiters classes are our comprehensive recreation classes for boys. In addition to the floor, bars, vault, and long trampoline, boys also work on the rings and parallel bars.
Tumbling/Trampoline
Tumbling/Trampoline class provides boys and girls with instruction on both the rectangular trampoline and the long trampoline. They will also develop tumbling skills that can be carried over into other sports such as martial arts, snowboarding, skiing, and cheerleading. Students work at their own pace, building upon basic trampoline moves; they also spend time working on the floor to develop more advanced trampoline skills.
Adult Gymnastics
Adult Gymnastics classes provide mature gymnasts with a warm-up, followed by the opportunity to work on specific pieces of apparatus. Gymnasts work at their own pace and walk-ins are always welcome.
It is Northern Lights Gymnastics policy that NO video taking is allowed in the gym at any time.
Pictures are permissible; however, please DO NOT tag any child besides your own in the picture.
Please note that not all classes may be offered every session.
Please also note that minimum grade requirements are established for safety and are strictly enforced. For all classes listing kindergarten as a grade requirement, children must be enrolled in a school kindergarten program or be five years old by September 1.
There are three recreational class sessions each academic year
September to December; January to mid-April; and mid-April to June. At the end of each session, a participation award is given to each gymnast. Gymnasts who attend classes continuously from September through June will receive a trophy. Gymnasts who attend the last session of the year (April through June), but are not eligible for a trophy, receive a special year-end award.
