Green bell pepper romesco, red bell pepper, macerated onion, chive, garden dandelion greens, torpedo onion & fennel. Wine Pairing: 2015 Reserve Pinot Noir
Pistachio Panna Cota
House-made whipped cream. Served with Niner barrel-aged coffee
Extraordinary single vineyard wines. These single-vineyard wines are produced in small lots & must display extraordinary characteristics to earn a place in our reserve tier.
2015 Reserve Pinot Noir, Jespersen Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. Of the seven clones of Pinot Noir we grow one in particular rose to the top in an already impressive vintage. A higher amount of whole cluster additions to the ferment lent these two lots such stunning characteristics that we decided to bottle a small amount separately with a Reserve designation. After bottling our winemaking team held this wine back from release for a year and a half in order to ensure perfect integration of its components. Quiet but impressive aromatics of blueberry, black raspberry & cloves slowly wake up as you swirl this wine in your glass. At first sip it shows off the richer side of Pinot Noir with notes of blackberry, dried tea & earth balanced by a soft acidity. Its pedigree is obvious with a balance of structured spice, delicate fruit & floral notes.
2015 Reserve Twisted Spur, Heart Hill Vineyard
Vineyard Blend: 97% Heart Hill Vineyard, 3% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 38% Malbec, 32% Syrah, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot. Twisted Spur is an unrestricted blend from Heart Hill Vineyard designed to be bold and adventurous. The vineyard is composed almost entirely of hillside plantings on steep, rocky slopes of shale and grapes from this site produce rich, powerful and well-structured wines. We only make this wine in years where we have standout wines from both the Bordeaux and Rhone families, and in 2015 we used Malbec as the base for this blend. Stylistically this wine is always big & bold and the gorgeous fruit we harvested in 2015 received a custom blend of French Oak Barrels to age and soften in.
2014 Reserve Cabernet Franc, Heart Hill Vineyard
Vineyard Blend: 100% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 87% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. We grow a single block of Cabernet Franc at Heart Hill Vineyard, visible on the right hand side as your drive into the tasting room. The 2014 vintage was a fantastic growing season and these four acres developed to be some of the best Cabernet Franc we've ever seen from this property. In fact it became the dominant varietal in our 2014 Fog Catcher and the remaining wine was used for this wine. We normally start tasting notes with aromatics but the star of this wine is the palate. It is focused and linear as it enters your mouth, bursting with blackberry & dark cherry notes, and a long bell curve of green pepper and age-worthy tannins at the end leaves your tastebuds intrigued.
2014 Reserve Super Paso, Bootjack Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 56% Sangiovese, 27% Barbera, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Carmenere, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine pays homage to the Super Tuscan winemakers who scorned convention in order to create unique blends. Our Super Paso blend marries the best of Italian and Paso Robles influences by co-fermenting two Italian varietals, Sangiovese & Barbera, with Cabernet Franc. Indicative of its cowboy inspiration this wine has leather, earth and smoke on the nose and a full-bodied palate with dusty tannins. makes this wine a wonderful companion to cool Autumn nights and confectionary spice & pie crust flavors on the palate balance out its ruggedness.
2014 Reserve Syrah, Jespersen Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Vineyard Blend: 98% Syrah, 2% Mourvedre. Edna Valley can be a risky growing climate for Syrah which generally takes longer to ripen than other varietals, but a warm growing season in 2014 helped ripen the fruit slowly and we were able to harvest at peak maturity. Our favorite thing about Jespersen Ranch Syrah is the signature black pepper note that is apparent from the very beginning in the grapes themselves. To preserve and accentuate that characteristic we choose oak barrels that have all been used for one vintage to create a soft oak impression and keep the pepper as the starring role. Bright raspberry jam is accentuated by our Syrah's signature freshly-cracked black pepper + buttery shortbread notes. That combination of fresh fruit & spice is exactly why we love crafting this Syrah and the palate delivers a tart & lively personality with well-integrated tannins.
Our estate tier of wine uses black labels to designate a paso robles wine, and silver labels to designate an edna valley wine.
2017 Sauvignon Blanc, Edna Valley
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. We grow Sauvignon Blanc at Jespersen Ranch, our cool climate vineyard nestled into a hillside near the Pacific Ocean. Our three acres of vines thrive in the coastal environment and derive their character from the rolling banks of coastal fog in the morning and ocean breezes in the afternoon. This is a fresh and vibrant white wine that showcases honeydew melon, hints of grapefruit and fresh-cut grass. Our goal is to create flavor balance in our Sauvignon Blanc. By picking our grapes in two passes we get the best of both worlds: one expression is crisp and tart and the other fruity and fresh. Most of the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and 10% of the wine was fermented in New French Oak barrels for just a kiss of warmth and roundness in the palate. This plus a small amount of secondary fermentation balance the naturally high acidity to create a meld of bright fruit and texture.
2017 Pinot Noir Rosé, Edna Valley
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. At the beginning of each growing season our winemaker chooses a single vineyard block at Jespersen Ranch to farm specifically for Rose. This extra attention in the vineyard is followed by whole-cluster pressing the grapes to create a gorgeous, jewel toned wine with bright acidity. In 2017 our Pinot Noir grapes had gorgeous color so we destemmed and pressed them immediately to acheive the perfect shade of light pink. We fermented the wine in a stainless steel tank and inoculated with a special yeast, native to the Provençal region in France famed for their Rosé, to promote more savory aromatics and flavors. The wine then spent 6 months in neutral oak barrels and was bottled under a screwcap to retain freshness.
2016 Pinot Noir, 90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. We grow Pinot Noir at Jespersen Ranch, our cool-climate vineyard nestled into a hillside in the Edna Valley where foggy mornings and coastal breezes that create the perfect growing conditions for Pinot Noir. We farm 33 acres of Pinot Noir at this coastal site planted to seven different clones of Pinot Noir. In 2016 we got fruit from all seven clones for the first time and this additional vineyard diversity gives us complexity that is hard to achieve in the winery. Our 2016 Estate Pinot Noir had a small amount of whole-cluster fermentation to complement the pure fruit we found that year and was aged in 30% New French Oak to add spice and structure.
2014 Malbec, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 72% Heart Hill Vineyard, 28% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 87% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. This grape is an insider favorite at the winery. In 2014 it was the dark horse of the vintage and ended up being a favorite of our winemaking team. On the nose hints of violet, rosemary and white smoke entice. The palate shows ripe, dark fruit seamlessly integrates with mouthwatering acidity resulting in an opulent and juicy red wine. This wine is built to age so if you're going to drink it now we recommend decanting for a few hours before serving to fully allow the layers to emerge.
2014 Merlot, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 95% Bootjack Ranch, 5% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 85% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 5% Carmenere, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Unabashedly Merlot, this wine is proud of its heritage and ready to prove the naysayers wrong. Our winemaking team built up the juicy base of Merlot with additions of Malbec, Carmenere & Cabernet Sauvignon to add additional structure & spice. Cardamom, raspberry and clove offer the wonderful contrast of sweet confectionary and spiciness on the nose. Soft, elegant, and dusty tannins give way to a gentle yet persistent finish. This wine doesn't apologize for being Merlot based.
2014 Grenache, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 100% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 91% Grenache, 9% Syrah. We started this wine off by co-fermenting Grenache with a touch of Syrah from the same vineyard. This balanced the bright fruit & high acid that we always find in our Grenache with deep tannins and dark color from the Syrah. A contrast between darkness & lightness, this wine has aromas of bright red raspberry, candied pepper and rose alongside deeply alluring boysenberry. A palate full of blue and black fruit with plush structure, a juicy finish and an outline of dry tannins.
2014 Sangiovese, 91 Points - Rich Cook
Vineyard Blend: 100% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 85% Sangiovese, 15% Barbera. This single vineyard wine comes from Bootjack Ranch, a wild and sprawling vineyard that embodies the independent spirit of the town. Proudly hailing from Paso Robles with a strong nod to its Italian roots, this Sangiovese was aged in a combination of puncheon and normal sized barrels to add complexity. Inviting aromas of espresso, toffee & bacon fat are contrasted by lighter notes of dried rose petals & cherries. The palate is focused on cranberry & cherry notes with tannins that add power to this food friendly wine.
2013 Petite Sirah, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 96% Bootjack Ranch, 4% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 86% Petite Sirah, 10% Petit Verdot, 4% Syrah. This is the last of the NINER Petite Sirah from Paso Robles! An early frost in 2011 damaged the vines so badly that they were never able to fully recover, and in 2014 we were forced to rip out the block entirely. Knowing that the 2013 vintage would be our last, we tucked enough cases away to release to our Wine Club Members when we thought it was ready to drink. A brute in its youth, five years of perfect cellar conditions in bottle helped tame it. We are proud to re-release this wine to you now, knowing that it will represent the final vintage perfectly.
The perfect gifts to give, or keep for yourself (we're not judging).
2014 Fog Catcher 1.5L - 93+ Points
Vineyard Blend: 80% Heart Hill Vineyard, 20% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 37% Cabernet Franc, 29% Petit Verdot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec. We have created limited edition etched Fog Catcher magnums signed by Andy Niner, Winemaker Patrick Muran, Winemaker Molly Bohlman and Vineyard Manager Jason Yeager. These magnums make the perfect addition to your cellar as they will be drinking beautifully over the next 10+ years. Fog Catcher is always comprised of the best Bordeaux blends of the year and the 2014 vintage exceeded expectations. Aromatics of dark blackberry, brushy herb and vanilla bean radiate from the glass and continue to develop into deeper layers of rich fruit and cinnamon as you swirl. The palate drapes delicate floral and fruit components over a structured mouthfeel to create a rich and glamorous experience outlined by impressive + dense tannins. Extended bottle aging will heavily benefit this wine and decanting is recommended, especially in its youth. 93+ points, Wine Advocate
2015 Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L, 95 Points
Vineyard Blend: 80% Bootjack Ranch, 20% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc. Our estate vineyards are nestled into the rolling hills of Paso Robles and provide exceptional growing conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. 2015 was a challenging year due to a combination of the extended drought and intensive winds during flowering in the Spring. These tough conditions led to, in the worst case, 50% lower yields than average in some of our Cabernet Sauvignon blocks. However this hardship produced small clusters with tiny, concentrated berries and the fruit we did pick was some of the best we've seen. Extended maceration techniques and a long, slow fermentation allowed peak extraction of phenolics, dark fruit characters and highly finessed tannins. 18 months of barrel aging in carefully selected, quality French Oak softened all of these high pedigree features and the wine developed into a beautifully structured wine with firm tannins that promise a long life ahead. 95 Points and Platinum Medal - Monterey Wine Competition, 2018 92 Points - Anthony Dias Blue 92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L, 92 Points
Vineyard Blend: 95% Bootjack Ranch, 5% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. In 2013, we encouraged tannin development alongside dark fruit notes, creating a wine that masterfully balances fresh fruit expression with complexity and length. Ripened plum and black cherry on the nose accented by carnations and rose. Savory fennel cuts through sweet notes of vanilla bean, creating a luscious and enticing aroma. The palate is intensely gratifying, with a soft entry and full finish that melds tannin with rich fruit. 2,958 cases produced. 92 Points - Wine Enthusiast 2016; 93 Points - ultimate beverage challenge, 2016. Gold Medal & Class Champion - houston rodeo, 2017.
Barrel Aged Coffee, Cab Barrel-Aged
The result of a happy marriage between coffee & wine, our barrel conditioned coffee program combines some of our red wine barrels with freshly roasted local coffee from JOEBELLA Coffee Roasters. The result of each batch we make: a new (and socially acceptable) way to get your wine fix before 8am. Batch #16 Coffee - Blue Flores: "Blue" Flores, a rare Arabica specialty coffee, is produced by the small holding farmers of Bhajawa ethnicity living near the volcanic highlands of Inerie Volcano. Coffee is described as fruit forward, herbal spice, velvety body, savory citrus acidity. Very clean profile highlighting its flavor. Batch #16 Barrel - Cabernet Sauvignon: We emptied this particular barrel when we bottled our 2015 Twisted Spur blend in February. The barrel had ample fruit and spiciness left which made it an ideal candidate for our coffee program.
