2014 Reserve Marsanne, Heart Hill Vineyard
Vineyard Blend: 100% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 75% Marsanne, 25% Grenache Blanc. Experiments in the cellar can be risky but this one gave way to brilliance. We aged this wine an additional year in a large-format (600L) new French oak barrel and loved the result. The wine gained complexity & a kiss of honey on the palate without losing the allure of bright fruit it had in its youth. This wine treads the line between opulence and modesty with intricate aromatics & flavors. Honey-hued aromas of toasted marshmallow and marmalade are underscored by tart key lime on the nose. The palate has a comfortable weight to it, with crisp white nectarine and indulgent pineapple flavors.
2014 Reserve Pinot Noir, Jespersen Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. Of the seven clones of Pinot Noir we grow one in particular rose to the top in an already impressive vintage. A higher amount of whole cluster additions to the ferment lent these two lots such stunning characteristics that we decided to bottle a small amount separately with a Reserve designation. After bottling our winemaking team held this wine back from release for a year and a half in order to ensure perfect integration of its components. Quiet but impressive aromatics of blueberry, black raspberry & cloves slowly wake up as you swirl this wine in your glass. At first sip it shows off the richer side of Pinot Noir with notes of blackberry, dried tea & earth balanced by a soft acidity. Its pedigree is obvious with a balance of structured spice, delicate fruit & floral notes.
2014 Reserve Super Paso, Bootjack Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 56% Sangiovese, 27% Barbera, 9% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Carmenere, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine pays homage to the Super Tuscan winemakers who scorned convention in order to create unique blends. Our Super Paso blend marries the best of Italian and Paso Robles influences by co-fermenting two Italian varietals, Sangiovese & Barbera, with Cabernet Franc. Indicative of its cowboy inspiration this wine has leather, earth and smoke on the nose and a full-bodied palate with dusty tannins. makes this wine a wonderful companion to cool Autumn nights and confectionary spice & pie crust flavors on the palate balance out its ruggedness.
2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Bootjack Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Carmenere, 6% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon was picked from some of our oldest vines at Bootjack Ranch. These 20 year old vines produce wines full of classic varietal characteristics and demand to be bottled independently. To further build on what was already an impressive wine we aged it in special 45% New French Oak barrels. A complex nose of black cherry, leather and spice leads to a seductively dense palate of dark fudge, dried black cherry and smoke. These classic flavors are contrasted by the slightest hint of grilled fennel and an uncompromising finish that is testament to the high-quality fruit we get off this ranch.
2013 Reserve Petite Sirah, Jespersen Ranch
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Petite Sirah. The highest quality and most brilliant example of Petite Sirah we've made yet, this is the farewell vintage of the varietal. Edna Valley saw one of the driest years on record which was especially welcome in our Petite Sirah block, as the tight clusters are prone to rot in wet years and shine brilliantly in dry years. This extended hang time gave us an extraordinary crop of Petite Sirah that we knew we would turn into a Reserve wine from the beginning. Although we ended up ripping all of our Petite Sirah vines from Jespersen Ranch after the 2013 harvest, this final vintage was unique. Dense and giant from the start, we chased a charred and chewy barrel program to stand up to the coarse, dark fruit profile.
Our estate tier of wine uses black labels to designate a paso robles wine, and silver labels to designate an edna valley wine.
2016 Sauvignon Blanc, Edna Valley
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. 2016 was a fantastic growing season for Sauvignon Blanc at Jespersen Ranch and we had extremely high vigor and growth in the vines. This Sauvignon Blanc is extremely reflective of its cool-climate upbringing. Aromatics of crisp cucumber & honeydew melon mix with fresh cut grass on the nose with a backsplash of tart Granny Smith apple. The palate is ample and finishes like a bite of a firm yellow peach – fruity with a mouthwatering crisp finish.
2016 Albarino, Edna Valley
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Albarino. Over the years we have taken many different directions with our Albarino, but this year is one of our winemaking team's favorite expressions yet. We put some of the wine through Malolactic fermentation to bring a subtle creaminess to the palate. The aromatics on this wine are a symphony of fresh fruit & mineral notes and aromas of pear, white nectarine & crisp peach intermingle and are unified by a bright minerality & freshly cut green grass. The palate has a comfortable roundness up front and is swept away by a kiwi-laced acidity on the finish.
2015 Silhouette Du Coeur, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 100% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 79% Grenache Blanc, 16% Roussanne, 5% Marsanne. From French, the name translates to "Silhouette of the Heart," respecting the fact that the three varietals in this blend grow on different edges of the vineyard. Each varietal was fermented separately, then blended together to create this wine. On the nose this wine opens with hints of white flowers, honey-suckle and a touch of salinity. On the palate Marsanne & Roussanne bring viscosity to the linear & stone fruit temperament we find in our Grenache Blanc to create a rich and age-able wine with flavors of pineapple, honey & mandarin.
2014 Chardonnay, 91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Chardonnay. This wine marks the first release from Molly Bohlman, our Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Winemaker who joined the team in 2014. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and the juice was transferred to a stainless steel tank where it settled overnight. The next morning, the wine was racked and transferred to oak barrels, of which about 1/3 were New French Oak. 100% of this Chardonnay went through ML fermentation, and the lees stirring created a creamy & luxurious mouthfeel on the finished wine without lending any dominating butter notes. Brioche, yellow peach & caramel aromas prelude a silken mouthfeel that showcases pear & cream notes elicited from lees stirring this wine received in barrel.
2016 Rosé, Edna Valley
Vineyard Blend: 100% jespersen ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. Jespersen Ranch has a cool growing season and we farmed a single block in the vineyard specifically to make this Rosé. We picked the fruit early in the season while it still had delicate, fresh fruit qualities with high acidity & low sugar levels with the goal of crafting a crisp & refreshing wine. We love pouring this wine for people and watching their faces light up as kiwi and watermelon aromatics leap out of the glass outlined by flirty floral notes. There is a savory note that keeps this wine from being one-dimensionally fruit driven, reminiscent of that fresh lime in your salted-rim fresh strawberry margarita. This lively wine dances across your palate before ending in a mouthwatering crescendo that will make you crave a beach & some sunshine. Only 200 cases made so get it while you can!
2014 Pinot Noir, 92 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Vineyard Blend: 100% Jespersen Ranch; Varietal Blend: 100% Pinot Noir. This wine marks the first release from Molly Bohlman, our Pinot Noir & Chardonnay Winemaker who joined the team in 2014. Rich and layered on the palate, this wine is on the decadent side of what Jespersen Ranch Pinot Noir is capable of. Cherry pie & blueberry compote aromas are contrasted by delicate rose, dried tea and toasty baking spices. The palate transitions effortlessly from bright fruit to smooth tannins and an opulent finish and is a brilliant example of the great things to come from Molly.
Vineyard Blend: 82% Bootjack Ranch, 18% Heart Hill; Varietal Blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 3% Merlot, 2% Carmenere. This is one of our darkest Estate Cabernet Sauvignons ever. On the nose this wine has depth with black currant, tobacco and dried herbs. On the palate black cherry, dark chocolate and dried sage are balanced with ample tannin and a long, lingering finish. This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon with its harmonious blend of full-bodied fruit, luscious tannins & well-integrated acidity and shows how well our two Paso Robles vineyards work in a blend.
2014 Malbec, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 72% Heart Hill Vineyard, 28% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 87% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. This grape is an insider favorite at the winery. In 2014 it was the dark horse of the vintage and ended up being a favorite of our winemaking team. On the nose hints of violet, rosemary and white smoke entice. The palate shows ripe, dark fruit seamlessly integrates with mouthwatering acidity resulting in an opulent and juicy red wine. This wine is built to age so if you're going to drink it now we recommend decanting for a few hours before serving to fully allow the layers to emerge.
2013 Sangiovese, Paso Robles
Vineyard Blend: 100% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Barbera. Proudly hailing from Paso Robles with a strong nod to its Italian roots, this wine has attention demanding aromatics of (we're not even joking here) maple-candied bacon, smoke & light fruit. Bright cherry comes forward on the palate and balances the toasty warmth of the nose with vibrant acidity and firm tannin structure. With true Italian inspiration, this wine was intended to be enjoyed with food. We started the process for this wine in the vineyard, choosing to pick the grapes at a lower brix level that maintained higher acid levels and resulted in our lowest alcohol wine from this vintage (13.5%).
2014 Syrah, 90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Vineyard Blend: 100% Heart Hill Vineyard, Paso Robles Willow Creek AVA; Varietal Blend: 79% Syrah, 9% Grenache, 5% Malbec, 5% Petite Sirah 2% Marsanne. This wine is an example of the density and sheer mass that is held within the Syrah grown at Heart Hill Vineyard and we designed winemaking to complement this. A slow, cool fermentation helped us increase the length and extract all the flavor components from the skins to create an exceptionally dark-hued wine that captures your attention right out of the bottle with meaty aromatics full of dark fruits & pepper. A finely grained & textured palate is studded with dark chocolate, berry pie & white pepper notes outlined by tannins. Gold Medal - SF International Wine Competition.

Vineyard Blend: 95% Bootjack Ranch, 5% Heart Hill Vineyard; Varietal Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. In 2013, we encouraged tannin development alongside dark fruit notes, creating a wine that masterfully balances fresh fruit expression with complexity and length. Ripened plum and black cherry on the nose accented by carnations and rose. Savory fennel cuts through sweet notes of vanilla bean, creating a luscious and enticing aroma. The palate is intensely gratifying, with a soft entry and full finish that melds tannin with rich fruit. 2,958 cases produced. 92 Points - Wine Enthusiast 2016; 93 Points - ultimate beverage challenge, 2016. 2013 Fog Catcher 1.5l, Limited Edition
Vineyard Blend: 92% Heart Hill Vineyard, 8% Bootjack Ranch; Varietal Blend: 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Malbec, 24% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc. A magnum of our flagship blend is the perfect addition to any Holiday Table. Each 1.5L bottle was carefully hand-waxed after bottling, available only while supplies last. Rich & glamourous in totality, the components of this wine were meticulously blended to create a dark and dense blend starring the best fruit from our vintage. Dark aromas of sarsaparilla, ink & black cherry on the nose are contrasted by whispers of vanilla & blackberry. The palate is gilded with lush tannin and dark chocolate notes and illustrates the aging potential of this powerful blend.
Barrel Aged Coffee, Cab Barrel-Aged
The result of a happy marriage between coffee & wine, our barrel conditioned coffee program combines some of our red wine barrels with freshly roasted local coffee from JOEBELLA Coffee Roasters. The result of each batch we make: a new (and socially acceptable) way to get your wine fix before 8am. Batch #16 Coffee - Blue Flores: "Blue" Flores, a rare Arabica specialty coffee, is produced by the small holding farmers of Bhajawa ethnicity living near the volcanic highlands of Inerie Volcano. Coffee is described as fruit forward, herbal spice, velvety body, savory citrus acidity. Very clean profile highlighting its flavor. Batch #16 Barrel - Cabernet Sauvignon: We emptied this particular barrel when we bottled our 2015 Twisted Spur blend in February. The barrel had ample fruit and spiciness left which made it an ideal candidate for our coffee program.
