About Us
Muddy Miser was a reclusive, market fisherman who lived in an abandoned pottery house at Dillon Falls. Young Pearl Grey fished those waters with a youthful passion. Grey’s first impression of ol’ Muddy Miser was formed from his mother’s warning to “stay away from the lazy, good-for-nothing fisherman” at Dillon Falls. On another occasion, his father directed his attention to a poorhouse, where Miser spent his cold winters, and warned, “ If you don’t learn to like work and study, that’s where you will end up.” Zane’s building resentment toward his father attracted him to this hermit outcast, Muddy Miser.
