Data Distribution
The ComPAS Task Manager provides electronic transfer of patient test results across an office-wide or hospital-wide network. When testing is completed and approved by the technician in the pulmonary laboratory, the test results are passed along the Task Manager routing depending upon the configuration options. It is easy to think of this as a report being handed from one colleague to another for review. Clinical Excellence

A typical VTG test is easy to perform: A simple touch on [Spacebar] begins all tests; After 4 or 5 tidal breaths a second [Spacebar] triggers the mouthpiece shutter to close at end-expiration (FRC). The subject breaths in and out against the closure; A third (Spacebar) opens the shutter to allow for IC or SVC capture and the test is complete. Each test effort is checked against ATS standards to ensure quality and validity. Furthermore, the ComPAS "Test Confidence" feature mines the test performance for any issues not considered by ATS and offers advice for test performance improvement if neccessary.

The Transair3 brings together precision measurement, outstanding reliability and great versatility. Originally designed for testing workers on the North Sea oil platforms, the design is rugged and highly reliable for many years of measurement. Tests of spirometry, flow volume loop, single breath diffusion, cough peak flow, bronchial challenge and respiratory pressures can be assured on all subjects ranging from small children to adults with severe COPD. The TLC by nitrogen recovery is regarded as a screening measure and if lung volumes are a priority we would recommend plethysmographic or helium dilution alternatives.

SpiroAir-LT Rolling-Seal Spirometer
The 12-Liter rolling-seal spirometer is the standard by which all other volume measurement devices are compared. There is no doubt that in pulmonary measurement, all flow-based devices have their boundaries of accuracy; a problem not limiting the SpiroAir-LT! The horizontal mounted spirometer has superb digital discrimination and has the lowest resistance of any competitive device.
The Most Accurate Spirometry available!
The 12-L rolling seal spirometer follows in the tradition of the world renowned standards created by Philip Morgan in the 1960's. Low friction technology and insightful mechanical construction have combined to provide a system with superior high frequency characteristics and very low resistance.. Measurements of spirometry are too frequently underestimated due to flow sensor limitations. There are no flow limits in either the SpiroAir-LT rolling seal spirometer or ComPAS software.
Absolute Volume Measurement
In clinical spirometry measurement there simply is no equal! For further details please ask for our report showing comparison to the ATS 24 Loop standards. Positive displacement spirometers all work on the same principle, the measurement of a true volume displacement distal to the subject. The advantage of the ‘TRUE' spirometer is that volume determination is absolute and measured at ambient conditions in both inspiration and expiration unlike pneumotachograph devices that require vague assumptions for correction of conditions.

Quality Control for VTG
The Morgan Plethysmograph Simulator consists of a sinusoidal rolling-seal pump with interchangeable isothermal chambers of approximately 2 and 4 Liters. It has been designed for verification of lung volumes measured by a plethysmograph.
Precise Standards
The VTG Calibrator is controlled via a Bluetooth interface operated using a Windows Mobile PDA. Pump frequency can be varied from 30 to 130 cycles per minute. Each chamber is manufactured to precise standards providing two volumes within physiological ranges for VTG measurement verification. Detailed test certificates are provided showing how each chamber volume is determined and verified. The device should be utilized with any body plethysmograph for routine quality assurance.
Simple to Operate
Control and operation of the simulator is via Bluetooth communication from a hand-held PDA. Three pre-set programs provide pumping frequencies of 40, 60 and 90 cycles which can be run with one simple command. The PDA program also allows the user to edit the pre-set options or customize any frequency and pump duration from 30 to 130 cycles. Once the simulator has been placed inside the cabin and attached to the patient valve, the technician simply runs the VTG software as if they were testing a patient. When required by the software, the pump on the simulator is started using the hand-held PDA. We recommend that a series of 4 or 5 measurements be taken and averaged for evaluation of accuracy. Given the correct pumping frequency and proper plethysmograph calibration, it is expected that VTG results on either the large or small chamber be better than 5% of the certified volume.
Certified Volume
Each isothermal vessel certificate details the calculated volume precisely obtained by dimensional measurement and gravimetrical adjustment for copper volume. Since measurements of VTG are typically triggered in software by a closing of the patient valve at the end of expiration, the internal volume is measured from the full down-stroke of the pump piston.

IT Departments
At Morgan Scientific, all information interfaces are managed and witten in-house. For many years we have specialized in hospital EMR requirements and have participated in numerous successful interfaces. The primary purpose of the ComPAS HL7 interface is to transmit test results from the ComPAS database to a central hospital system. Preliminary or finalized data can each be sent at a desired point in time (once the technician has approved the test, once the physician has completed his interpretation, etc). At this point, ComPAS creates the HL7 output and transmits it to the hospital server by TCP/IP, text file drop-off, or some other delivery method. A detailed PDF or TIFF report can also be provided which includes test results as well as graphs. Another possible use of the HL7 interface is to download patient demographic data from the hospital system for use within ComPAS. Generally, a technician would input a unique identifier (SSN, Medical Record Number, etc) into ComPAS that would trigger an HL7 request to the hospital server, which would respond with an HL7 message providing the patient’s demographic data.
