The Montecito Cafe was opened in 1986 by husband and wife team Mark and Margaret Huston, both graduates of the California Culinary Academy. The restaurant is located in the historic Montecito Inn built by Charlie Chaplin in the 1920’s. The song “There is an old hotel with a wishing well” refers to the fountain in the restaurant that is filled with fresh flowers. The Cafe specializes in simple and delicious food. There is a variety of daily specials to choose from which always include fresh fish. The Cafe is known for their entrée size salad bowls, sandwiches, fresh fish and entrée choices such as filet mignon, and grilled chicken with anaheim chilies. The homemade lamb sausage is also very popular. Everything is made daily from scratch on the premises including all of the desserts, sauces, dressings and even the hamburger buns. The motto of the restaurant is “Quality, Value and Service” quality people, excellent value and fast and friendly service. The restaurant has stayed busy and maintained its high standards for over 25 years. The Cafe has received many awards including “Best Montecito Restaurant” for the past 11 years in a row. The restaurant has a very charming Bar across the driveway, which is perfect for intimate dinners, homemade pizzas and cocktails. In 2009 Mark and Margaret Huston opened their new restaurant, Jane located next to the Arlington Theater in downtown Santa Barbara.
