Frequently Asked Questions
When Can I Get It?
Most orders are ready for pickup within 24 hours.
What is It?
The government has approved one very straightforward and basic formula. This will be 80% ethyl alcohol with peroxide, glycerin and water. It is a straight forward institutional style sanitizer solution. This is not a gel and has no fragrance added. It will easily work in a spray bottle as it has a watery consistency.
What is the Price?
We are selling it for $50 per gallon for single gallons ($0.39 per ounce) or $40 per gallon for orders of 4 gallons or more. ($0.31 per ounce). We're doing all we can to keep the pricing reasonable. Comparable Purell high alcohol sanitizer is priced at $0.34 an ounce retail (which is sold out).
Can You Ship it to Me?
Most orders will need to be picked up at our facility at 303 North Cody Road in LeClaire. Because of the high alcohol content, this product is flammable. Therefore, it is not allowed to be shipped by USPS, UPS, FedEx or comparable carriers. We are working with local LTL trucking companies who will be able to haul this hazardous material via palette load. The cost for shipping is $100 per palette around Iowa and Illinois. Minimum shipping quantity is 9 cases or 1 55 gallon drum. If you are shipping elsewhere, we will provide a shipping quote before you pay. Smaller personal sizes are available above that can be ordered online.
How Will it Be Dispensed?
This will be packaged in bulk one gallon jugs. There is not a pump attached. We encourage people to save any dispenser bottles they might have and use this product as a refill. This product works best in spray bottles. It will work in a pump, but the spray bottle is more effective and will minimize waste.

Cody Road Whiskey
Cody Road Bourbon Whiskey
In 1846, William "Buffalo Bill" Cody was born in Le Claire, Iowa. On his journey down the "road of life", he inspired and entertained many. Cody Road Bourbon is named in his honor. We put a unique signature on this spirit. You may not know that over 90% of American whiskies are made by 8 distilleries. While they make great whiskies, there are a lot of similarities. We feel craft distilling is at the same point that craft brewing was 15-20 years ago when the market saw only beer and light beer. Then the small guys introduced new and exciting flavors that changed the face of beer in this country. We want to be part of a similar revolution in spirits. This bourbon is made form a mash of 70% corn from Le Claire, 20% wheat from Reynolds, IL and 10% unmalted barley from Davenport, IA. It is aged for two years in newly charred 30 gallon oak barrels, about half the size of a traditional whiskey barrels at a lower proof than typical
Cody Road Single Barrel Rye
Buffalo Bill Cody was born in the small Iowa town of Le Claire in 1846. You'll find our distillery here on his namesake highway… Cody Road. This whiskey enters the barrel at 96 proof, much lower than typical. The higher water content dissolves sugars quickly and makes for unique sweetness. After losing some alcohol during aging, we take this out of the barrel at 92 proof and into the bottle. Experience a rye unlike any other right here on Cody Road! Grain bill: 95% rye, 5% barley malt. Serving style: Easy sipping on the rocks or neat. Plenty of room for sweet and bitters in a classic Manhattan or Sazerac. Tasting notes: Sweet and approachable with bright notes of apple, banana and pear. Followed with the tell tale spice of rye on the finish
Cody Road Rye Whiskey
In 1846, William "Buffalo Bill" Cody was born in Le Claire, Iowa. During his storied life, he was regarded as a regular purveyor of whiskey. Legend has it that rye whiskey was his spirit of choice. So we had to make a rye! Handmade from 100% local rye purchased from Dave and Jim Wherry in Fulton, Illinois. Our rye is a unique spirit that showcases the wonderful spiciness of this one-of-a-kind grain along with the delicate fruitiness that is often lost in rye whiskies. Rye is known for being a bold and spicy grain. We distill it very cleanly so you can experience a sweet fruitiness that is unexpected from rye. Then the signature spiciness will linger in the back of your mouth. Let it set in the glass for a few minutes and taste the complexities of rye as they soar from your glass. Perfect for classic cocktailing, the signature sweetness of this whiskey is a perfect compliment for many per-Prohibition cocktail recipes that were invented when rye whiskey was king. We pride ourselves in the hard work that goes into each barrel of whiskey. We pride ourselves in the hard work that goes into each grain of our locally grown rye. Now, we're proud of the fine flavor of a truly unique rye whiskey. We hope you take pride in sharing some with your friends and raising a glass to one of America's greatest heroes. We like to think Buffalo Bill would be proud of it too. Enjoy a new stroll down Cody Road today!
Cody Road Single Barrel Bourbon
Buffalo Bill Cody lived life large. Born just a mile from our distillery, we honor his legend with a BIG whiskey. This limited wheated bourbon is hand selected one barrel at a time. Bottled at barrel proof of 105, we encourage you to live life large the Cody Road way. Grain bill: 70% corn, 20% wheat, 10% barley. Serving style: Add a splash of water or an ice cube to bring out the big flavor. Outstanding in classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned or a Julep. Tasting notes: Bold vanilla and caramel soar out of this high proof bourbon. The sweetness of corn gives way to buttery wheat and a unique finish of roasted nuts and toffee

Cody Road Maple
Cody Road Maple captures the finest sweetness of Iowa's rolling hills in a bottle. We start with our award winning Cody Road Bourbon and flavor it with 100% pure grade A maple syrup from Great River Maple in Garnavillo, Iowa. You get real whiskey, real maple and real flavor like no other product on the market. Released for the first time in February 2017 as a "Still Crazy" limited edition spirit, this one was so popular that it graduated to the big bottle in February of 2018. It is now available year-round. Also try Barrel Aged Maple Syrup using our Cody Road Barrels from Great River Maple!
Cody Road Honey
One of our first seasonals was a delicious offering called "Queen Bee Honey Whiskey" which we always released in the spring each year. It became so popular that in 2018 we moved it to a year-round offering and changed the name to Cody Road Honey. But it is the same delicious whiskey in the bottle. We use our special recipe to infuse our Cody Road Bourbon with real clover honey harvested from the hive just 30 miles from our distillery in Jackson County, Iowa. Our traditional Cody Road Bourbon provides for an even sweeter taste than the corn whiskey used in past years. Combined with natural clover honey, we get a perfect kiss of sweetness. We go through nearly 60 gallons of honey to make each batch of this spirit

Our Spirits
River Pilot Vodka
Over a century ago, river pilots brought LeClaire, Iowa to life through their remarkable ability to navigate boats cleanly through the Mississippi's dangerous cross currents, rocks and channels. The very first was Philip Suiter. River Pilot Vodka is handmade in Le Claire - overlooking the the river Suiter piloted - and reflects the soul of this honest, honorable and down-to-Earth pioneer. River Pilot is a crystal clear vodka with unparalleled smoothness. We use 100% Iowa ingredients in this product. First, we distill a clear sweet corn vodka using corn harvested less than 3 miles from our distillery. That spirit is blended with a neutral corn spirit distilled at a local corn processing plant. The two spirits are combined and then carbon filtered at our distillery. Finally, the blend is redistilled through our small batch process to ensure the smoothest and cleanest of vodkas. Each bottle is hand numbered to reflect the handcrafted dedication each bottle receives
River Rose Gin
River Rose honors a time when life along the river was gracious and inspiring. It is handmade in the historic river town of Le Claire, Iowa along a dramatic bend in the Mississippi where steamboat pilots of old would dock and hire local river pilots to navigate the harrowing rapids ahead. The steady hand and compass rose of these noble navigators made Le Claire famous. You can still see the historic homes of these revered river pilots if you visit Le Claire today. Reflecting the deep respect for local expertise, River Rose is distilled with fresh grains from local farmers. Our unique blend of botanicals dates back to a recipe from the late 1800s. Highlighted with traditional juniper, River Rose jumps from your palette with a full body of citrus including orange, grapefruit and lemon. Lavender, rose petals and locally grown cucumbers provide a distinctive finish that makes your martini swirl with aroma. Our slow, small batch process ensures a consistently clean and smooth finish. We hand write the batch number over each cork so you can see our commitment to every bottle that passes through our distillery. Our Rose is a tip of the hat to the heroes of the waters, the bounties of the shore and a spirit of adventure from a different time. Enjoy River Rose and raise a glass to these legendary navigators
River Baron Artisan Spirit
In the era when grand steamboats were the lifeblood of the Mississippi, powerful traders enhanced the life of communities. Known as river barons, they were the keepers of life's luxuries. As the big steamers powered from New Orleans to St. Paul and back, these barons directed the flow of fine goods, including wine and spirits. Reflecting their demand for premium quality, River Baron is handmade in Le Claire, Iowa. Its exceptional taste begins with grains harvested from local farms. A blend of corn and wheat, all delivered directly from the nearby farms where each kernel grew. It makes for a spirit like you've never tasted before. Full flavored with the flowery aroma of wheat and the sweet, smooth finish of corn. Premium distillation in small batches ensures the outstanding quality river barons demanded. We use only the sweetest, smoothest portion of each distillation run. Our signature spirit is distilled and filtered in small batches and the hand writing on the neck label ensures that each bottle has received the care it deserves. Try River Baron for a sweet and smooth finish. Mix it like a vodka. Our favorites? White Russians, sweet and citrus mixers, cola or root beer.. Pour some today and tip your glass to the noble barons who built life along the Mississippi
Iowish Cream Liqueur

Handmade with corn harvested by local Iowa farmers, Iowish Cream has the perfect sweet kiss of Iowa corn along with coffee from the Iowa Coffee Company, cinnamon and vanilla for a one of a kind Iowish treat. Seasonal Spirits
Annie's Apple Apple Pie Liqueur
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2015. We partnered with Gravert's Apple Basket Orchard in Sabula, Iowa to make this delicious apple cider offering. Annie's Apple Pie Liqueur mixes Iowa corn spirits with fresh apple cider from Gravert's and cinnamon sugar for a special fall treat. The apple harvest was top notch this year and the fresh cider is to die for! Bottled at 38 proof, this has enough of a kick to taste, but is sweet enough to just sip on
Big Peach Liqueur
When we did our distillation training in Germany, we quickly realized that the Germans knew a thing or two about making liqueurs. So we took their recipe for one of America's favorite liqueurs and put it to use. We used our River Pilot Vodka for the base and added real peaches and sugar for this fabulous summertime sipper. We first bottled this in July of 2014. Our Seasonal Spirits limited release allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Dry Dock Sorghrum
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2013. We get lots of request for rum but because we try hard to use local ingredients, and rum is made from sugar cane or molasses, we didn't think we'd be able to pull it off. Then we had an idea. What about sorghum syrup? We figured that was sugar, so why not? We found a few places making sorghum syrup but not in the quantities we would need to make enough for a full batch. One a drive back from Des Moines, we stopped at Maasdam Sorghum Mills near Lynnville, IA. They have the most amazing steam-powered sorghum press that processes the sweet sorghum juice and cooks it down to a syrup. We ordered up a 55 gallon drum to try it out and it turned out delicious. The only problem was that sorghum syrup was going to be a very expensive way to make rum. So we decided to order extra sugar when we made coffee liqueur and ferment that along with the sorghum. So this is a hybrid of sorts. The initial distillate left a wonderfully unique flavor with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg that almost tasted like a lightly spiced rum. We wanted to age it to give it a little color, but were fearful to cover up the flavor of the sorghum. So this spirit aged in a new barrel for only a few months. As is the case for all of our spirits, we have to get federal formula and label approval for our spirits. So we submitted our paperwork and were denied as a rum. Turns out that in order to call it rum, 100% of the base material has to be cane sugar or cane molasses. So we couldn't call it rum. So we went round and round trying to figure out what to call it. We came up with the name "Sorghrum" and it just stuck

Queen Bee Honey Whiskey
No Longer Available in Small Bottles. Now Available Year-Round in 750 Ml Bottles as "cody Road Honey" (Exact same product, just now in a bigger bottle). One of our most popular seasonals. Queen Bee Honey Flavored Whiskey brings a unique flavor that only nature can provide. We go through nearly 60 gallons of honey to make this spirit. Queen Bee Honey Whisky is part of our Seasonal line of spirits. We first bottled this in April 2014. It has been so popular that in spring of 2018, it graduated to the big bottle and is now known as "Cody Road Honey" and is available year-round
Stone Fence Apple Cider Whiskey
This fall seasonal draws off a bit of history. Legend has it that Buffalo Bill Cody's cocktail of choice was the" Stone Fence" which is apple cider and rye whiskey. Our Cody Road Rye Whiskey comes out of the barrel at around 100 proof. We usually add water to it to take it down to bottling proof. Instead, we add fresh apple cider from Gravert's Apple Orchard in Sabula, Iowa for a one of a kind flavor. We first bottled this in December of 2013 and again in Fall of 2014. After a hiatus, it returned in October of 2018. Our Seasonal Spirits limited release allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Windmill Rye Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2011. When our farmer Tracy Doonan had some extra rye at the end of growing season, we decided it would be fun to do a rye spirit as a seasonal. But we weren't sure exactly how we could tie in another local business to do it. Then we had the idea that we could get someone to mill the grain for us. That's when our attention shifted 20 miles up river to De Immigrant Windmill, the authentic Dutch windmill in Fulton, Illinois. The windmill is a beautiful sight to see. The intricate wooden gears that use nature's power to spin giant millstones is impressive to say the least. The windmill is operated by community volunteers who helped bring the windmill from the Netherlands to Fulton back in 2000. Over the summer and into the fall, we worked with the millers to arrange for the rye to be milled there. Then we brought the grain back to the distillery for mashing and fermenting. We distilled the whiskey and put it into new, charred barrels. About half of it was then transferred to used Cody Road Bourbon barrels for the last 2 months of aging. The final bottling blended all of the spirit together. The result is an interesting study in rye grain. Most rye bourbons blend as much as 30-40% corn to take the spicy edge off the grain. But this spirit is 100% rye. It is has a spicy mouth feel, especially on the roof of your mouth and back of your throat. But it is clean and smooth down your throat. We find that letting it sit in the glass for a few minutes is worth the wait. Even without ice, it opens up and evolves in the glass. You'll find much more fruit and honey mixed in with the spice and pepper of the rye. Nose over the glass once it is empty and you'll really find the honey. Our Seasonal Spirits limited release allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Wide River Wheat
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2011. We distilled this 100% wheat spirit using organic wheat from Tracy Doonan in Reynolds, Illinois. The spirit was then aged in oak barrels. During the last month of aging, this spirit was transferred to oak used to age wine at Wide River Winery. This oak was used to age wine made from a local grape called Corot Noir. This grape was grown by Gene Meyer in Pittsfield, Illinois. That wine is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon for Wide River's Felony Red wine. This left us with a light summertime sipper with a wonderful hint of red wine
Very Cherry Cobbler Liqueur
Pretty please with VERY CHERRY on top! Sweet cherries and vanilla combine for a flavor even Grandma would cherish. Iowa corn spirits with real cherries will keep you all warm inside. You'll find yourself saying pretty please for more! Released for the first time October 2017
Still Crazy Spirits
Barrel River Rose Gin
A fun experiment for us resulted in one of our favorites! We soaked our River Rose Gin in new, charred oak barrels at high proof. The result? Amazing vanilla notes added to our beautifully delicate gin. This is amazing for old fashions, negronis and with cream soda! We first bottled this in August of 2014. We brought it back for an encore bottling in spring of 2019. Our Still Crazy limited release spirits allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Cody Road Double Barrel Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2015. We aged two barrels of Cody Road Bourbon for two years in 30 gallon newly charred oak barrels. Then we moved the whiskey to barrels used to age Wide River Winery's "Not Guilty" dessert wine. The result? Nothing short of exquisite. The unique sweetness of Not Guilty dances around each sip. Bottled at 101 proof, this is a special treat for the Cody Road enthusiast at your house. Only 500 bottles of this delicious whiskey were produced. Get this unique expression of our #1 spirit while you can
Cody Road Uncommon Double Barrel Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2018. Cody Road Uncommon Double Barrel is not just unique… It's totally Uncommon! It's Cody Road Bourbon Whiskey finished in beer barrels used to make Barrel Aged Double Uncommon Stout at Bent River Brewery in Rock Island. The rich coffee and malt flavors from the beer add an uncommon finish to this whiskey to say the least. This limited edition whiskey is only available in Iowa and Illinois. With only 500 bottles made, this one is a collectors item. So savor each sip!
Farmer Brown Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2014. Farmer Brown Whiskey is a collaboration with our friends at Great River Brewery in Davenport. Farmer Brown Ale is one of our favorite local brews. Rich with chocolate malts, it has been a hit on its own and also barrel aged in Cody Road whiskey barrels. Now, you can taste it as a whiskey! We took over 3,000 gallons of Farmer Brown Ale wash and distilled the alcohol out of it. We put that spirit into used Cody Road Bourbon barrels and let it soak for over two years. The result is a wonderfully unique exploration of the brew. Rich chocolate, a snip of hops and mild barrel flavors bring a whole new symphony of flavors. Sit down with a glass of Farmer Brown Ale next to a glass of Farmer Brown Whiskey and see what flavors you can trace through the distillation. Only 1,000 bottles of this unique whiskey were released
Mono Loco Banana Flavored Rye Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2013. We're not crazy, just bananas! We started with our Cody Road Rye whiskey and infused it with 1,000 pounds of real bananas for about a week. The result was filtered and bottled as Mono Loco which is Spanish for "Crazy Monkey" and we think this one lives up to the name. We first bottled this in September of 2013, making only 1,032 bottles. Our Still Crazy limited release spirits allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Six Shooter Smoke Whiskey
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2014. Smoke 'em if you got 'em! We made only 1,032 bottles of this unique whiskey. We started with our Cody Road Rye whiskey and added a cherry wood smoked six row barley. It gives the whiskey a unique sweetness with a barbecue smoke finish. Grab this one for something completely different! Six Shooter Smoke Whiskey is part of our Still Crazy line of spirits. We first bottled this in February of 2014. Our Still Crazy limited release spirits allow us to bring one-of-a-kind expressions to the market and partner with other local companies in the process. Uniquely local and uniquely flavorful
Silver Creek Chestnut Liqueur
Not Currently in Production-Last Made 2017. We rang in the new year of 2017 with a bit of an experiment! Silver Creek Chestnut Liqueur is made with locally grown chestnuts from just west of LeClaire. We soaked those local chestnuts in our River Pilot Vodka for a couple months, added sugar and boom! We have a deliciously unique liqueur. Only problem? We only had about 100 bottles. So we didn't have enough to distribute this to stores, etc. We released this is a very special bottling only at the distillery. So if you find a bottle, it's a collector's item!
Schaarski's Krupnikas
Schaarski's Krupnikas was born on the other side of the globe. As our former distillers Scot and Karen traveled Europe, they discovered this delicious cordial which is popular in Poland and Lithuania. Scot helped us develop a delicious recipe of our own. Even though Scot has moved on to bigger things, we still bring this great flavor out around Christmas each year because of the rich spices are perfect for the holidays! Sweet local honey with over a dozen different warm spices and citrus, this is a complex and delicious treat unlike anything you've tried. Try it at room temperature or slightly warmed to bring out the full spectrum of flavors. Good on the rocks as an after dinner sipper too!
Cody Road Mint Julep
Each year we celebrate our annual "KenTaco Derby" party with this special "Still Crazy" release! Cody Road Mint Julep is your favorite taste of May already bottled up and ready to go. Just add ice. We use Cody Road Bourbon and steep it with real mint, add sugar and bottle it up. While juleps are known for their association with horses, it's way older than that. Legend has it farmers would drink it before they hit the fields for a jolt of energy. With all natural mint and delicious Cody Road Bourbon, we think this one will wake you right up! This one is so delicious, you won't want it to end when the roses arrive. So grab a few while you can. We only made 250 bottles annually so it goes fast!
Aviary Limited Edition Barreled Cocktails
Our Still Crazy Aviary barrel aged bottled cocktails are limited edition unique collaboration that reach from the farm to the big city. The cocktail program at Grant Achatz' "The Aviary" in Chicago and "The Aviary NYC" in New York is headed by Beverage Director Micah Melton who grew up just a few miles from our distillery. Now as he creates the world's most creative cocktails, he brings a little of his country home to the bright lights. Hand mixed with Micah, we think you'll love these exciting experiments in a bottle. Aviary Barrel Buffalo Bill (Released 09/2019): We took one of the most popular cocktails from the Cody Road Cocktail House and had some fun with it. Cody Road Bourbon was mixed with local Great River Maple syrup, homemade Iowa black walnut bitters and orange. The cocktail was aged for over 9 months in a used Cody Road Bourbon barrel before bottling. Aviary Bird's Nest (Released 10/2019): This is a new take on an old favorite. This is a Manhattan with a little of the country thrown in! We mixed Cody Road Rye, vermouth and Very Cherry Cobbler Liqueur. That cocktail was then barrel aged for over 9 months in a used Cody Road rye barrel. The result is a beautiful sipper. Just add ice for an amazing cocktail ready to go!

Welcome Wednesdays
Local organizations with federal 501 (C) (3) status can apply to be included in our "Welcome Wednesday" fundraiser events. We'll host an open party in the Cody Road Cocktail House from 5-9 pm on a Wednesday evening. The party will be open to the general public. 20% of all bar and bottle sales during that 4 hour period will be donated to your organization! A check will be mailed to you within 1 week of the event.
Here's what is up to you
Get your fans out!
We will put info about the party on our social media, but this will be much more successful if your fans come and participate. Be sure you spread the word!
You are welcome to have one "guest bartender" behind the bar
Our staff will do most of the actual drink mixing. But it's always fun to have someone from your organization behind the bar to talk things up. This isn't required though.
You are welcome to have food if you'd like, but we do not provide that
Any food served should be available to anyone who attends.
Organizations are eligible to host one "Welcome Wednesday" event per year.
To apply for a Welcome Wednesday event, use the form below and include the following information:
Name of organization (must be 501(c)(3) organization)
Name an info for primary contact person
Any preferred dates (subject to availability)
Name of guest bartender if desired.
First Friday
Visit www.visitleclaire.com for more information on other First Friday activities in Le Claire including food, drink, shopping and music!
First Friday features
Not everyone can make it to Le Claire for our regular business hour tours
Plus, we'd like to let our hair down a little bit. So watch for the First Friday Features out at the distillery. On the first Friday of every month, we'll host an open house social hour from 5 to 8 PM. Many of the shops stay open late and the area bars and restaurants gear up for crowds. Don't miss it on the first Friday of the month, 12 months a year.
Stephanie, our spirited chef, cooks with our spirits and has free food samples
We mix up some of our favorite drink recipes from our website and have free samples of those as well. We'll do a mini-tour at 6 and 7 pm as well. Comeo n out!
Virtual tastings
We have the capability to arrange Skype or Face-time tours and tastings
Here is how it works … you gather a group of at least 8 people and contact us to arrange the tasting. We'll help you find a retailer to find our products. You purchase the spirits and we'll help you with some recipes for mixers.
Then, when the night comes for our tasting, we'll walk you and your guests through the distillery
We'll give you insight on our products for the tasting and share our favorite ways to mix them.
It's a ton of fun and a really unique way to connect with our distillery and have a great time with friends at the same time
