Minar Palace Indian Restaurant first opened its doors to the city of brotherly love back in August of 1991. At that time Minar Palace was the one of if not the only Indian restaurant in Center City. Located on the 1600 block of Sansom Street Minar outlasted many businesses on the block and became one of the most popular and widely seeked fast food restaurants around. The small two floor restaurant dressed in white walls and red paint may not have been a breath taker but the food served on plastic plates and utensils was anointed as the “Best Cheap Eats” in Philadelphia by AOL Guide.
Over the years Minar Palace has accumulated many awards and has received high notoriety from respected critics including AOL, City Paper, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine and Zagat. Minar thrived on its lunch hour rush which almost always consisted of hungry business men and woman lined up and out the door. Minar also provided fast free delivery in and around Center City Philadelphia. Minar reigned supreme at 1605 Sansom Street for a healthy fifteen years before finally calling it quits. For several reasons, Minar Palace and its family decided to hang up the aprons and move on to other things in life, however that “retirement” was short lived.
On September 10, 2008 Minar Palace Indian Restaurant rejoined the Center City Community and reopened for business at 1304 Walnut Street. Loyal patrons rejoiced as the Indian Fast Food world grinned from ear to ear. With a brand new restaurant Minar Palace provides the same fast, cheap and delicious value it has been known for. Minar Palace Indian Restaurant is back to shake up the fast food industry and is open Monday thru Saturday for both lunch and dinner. Take-Out as well as fast, FREE delivery is available.
