Elvir and Zeljka Kohnic, originally from Sarajevo, immigrated to the US in 1997. At the time of their move from one continent to another, they were unfamiliar with Utah, except for two important things: the Utah Jazz and Salt Lake City as the recently announced host of the 2002 Winter Olympics. As citizens of Sarajevo, Elvir and Zeljka had been a part of the 1984 Winter Olympics hosted there. The similarities between these two host cities, made them both feel at home.
In pursuit of Elvir's lifelong dream, he and his wife Zeljka opened Mediterra Mercato Deli & Market in 2007, with the purpose of sharing the cuisine and culture of the Mediterranean and Europe. Just as the interior architecture of natural wood and industrial metal displays, they wish to cherishing the past and look forward to the future.
