Class Descriptions
Bikram's Beginning Yoga Sequence
The room is heated to 106 degrees. Bikram Yoga's twenty-six posture sequence systematically moves fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, restoring all systems to healthy working order. Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well-being follow. This class is a twenty-six asana series designed to scientifically warm and stretch muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the order in which they should be stretched.
Advanced Practice & Play
Anything goes! The room is HOT and the practice is challenging and fun, and may include a mini posture clinic or playtime on your mat. The mood is lighthearted and energetic, and the only requirement is a sense of adventure. Recommended for intermediate to advanced yogis, but all skill levels are welcome and encouraged. Because this class offers minimal instruction, we recommend participants have some yoga experience.
Hot Yoga
The room is heated to 104 degrees and class may include extended hold times and vigorous vinyasa flows, mostly pulled from adho mukha svanasana (downward facing dog). Hot Yoga introduces more advanced postures, including inversions and arm balances, but modifications to poses are always offered making this class suitable for all levels.
Yoga Basics
Yoga Basics is a mini posture clinic. Each week the instructors focus on asanas and specific stages of class - sun salutations, standing and balancing postures, left of mat, and floor postures. When a month has five weeks instructors teach a "wild card" basics class which may include backbends, the use of props, or yoga etiquette, just to name a few. This is the perfect class for those new to yoga or for the experienced practitioner wanting to improve his or her practice.
Light & Warm
The room is warmed to 85 degrees and class is based off the four stack method (sun salutations, standing postures, left of mat, and floor postures). Poses may be pulled from the top of the mat or from adho mukha svanasana (downward facing dog), creating a less vigorous class that still prepares the body for more advanced postures. Light & Warm is great for beginners or anyone wanting a more relaxing hot yoga experience.

Miranda Berry
Tanya Hall
My yoga practice began very simply in 1998, through a self study using videos and books, one year after I received my RN license. The practice felt so healing that I fell in love immediately. As a public health nurse I shared yoga with my patients and started an employee wellness program focusing on stress relief. Despite all this, I spent much of my early life pursuing education (mind) while ignoring the needs of my body. After completing the last of 4 degrees from 3 different universities, I finally recognized the importance of working the body to help heal the mind. A late bloomer, at the age of 40 I enrolled in dance classes and expanded my yoga practice. I am proof that it is never to late to start again. For years I joked, "I don't know what I want to be when I grow up," until I saw an article about Tao Porchon-Lynch, a 95 year-old yoga instructor in an advanced arm balance called Mayurasana. I knew then: "That's what I want to be when I grow up." Not long after, I discovered McP Hot Yoga Studio and everything changed. My consistently inconsistent fascination with yoga became a daily commitment to the mat. I am amazed at what can be accomplished through regular yoga practice. I enjoy watching it transform not only my life, but the lives of those who enter the studio every day. I am excited to become a part of the ever-growing Mcp family of instructors with the addition of Barre classes. This fun workout combines strength and flexibility with the beauty and grace of ballet. I try to keep class fun and challenging enough to keep people coming back for more. As a nurse, contributing to something that truly promotes health and prevents disease, rather than something that treats symptoms, is a dream come true. And soon, when I take my first official step toward becoming a yoga teacher, I will be on my way with the incredible training and mentorship provided at McP. I count myself truly blessed to be a part of this community. I'm still a beginner. Each day I come to the mat, I begin again. I love that.
Taylor Henry
Taylor grew up in a fitness-oriented family, but after an injury left her unable to perform her usual exercise routine, a friend introduced her to yoga and she never looked back. Taylor believes a regular yoga practice can heal and join the body and the mind, resulting in increased self-awareness, confidence, and peace. To her, challenges in the practice help one prepare for challenges in life. Taylor received her RYT-200 through McP Hot Yoga Studio and was recently accepted to Tiffany Cruikshank's 500-hour Yoga Medicine school which she will begin in 2015. Her sequencing is mindful and anatomically focused, resulting in vigorous but lighthearted classes that push limits while promoting grace and strength.
Teresa Moe
I grew up in San Diego, California, loving all things athletic. I was a competitive water skier and swimmer and enjoyed running, biking, hiking, and just about anything you could do outside! As I got older, I continued to push myself with running, and experienced frequent knee and hip injuries. I found it extremely frustrating that these injuries kept me from my daily outdoor exercise. I took up yoga to improve my flexibility and shorten my down time. I started with yoga videos at home, and I immediately noticed a difference in my mental and physical health. My down times were shorter and less frequent and I learned that it was okay, and in fact, enjoyable, to be still. This was a big change from my go,go,go personality. Over the years, yoga has added a peace and balance to my life that I was not able to achieve with other forms of exercise. I still love all types of exercise, but yoga is my rock. My favorite thing about yoga is that I can always challenge myself, both mentally and physically, and I will always have room to grow. I also love that it keeps my mind and body feeling younger and more alive.
