New to Massage
Here's what you can expect from your first massage session. Our typical professional massage sessions average 30 - 60 minutes. This doesn't include the time to complete the health history form and your exit conversation with the therapist. When not to have a massage: Massage therapy and related body work modalities are non-invasive, relaxing and natural. It is therefore, generally considered a safe treatment for most people. However, there are contraindications for massage, or factors that increase risk to a client or therapist. If you are experiencing a contraindication, be sure to talk with your therapist prior to your session.
Welcome
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early for appointment to complete paperwork, relax and unwind. Once you arrive, our receptionist or therapist will greet you and ask you to complete the health history form to help make us aware of any other health information and provide contact information. Your therapist will discuss specific needs or goals and the reason you're coming in for a massage. This is the opportunity to share specific areas in which you're experiencing pain of would like to address with your massage.
Starting your session
Your massage therapist will wait outside the room while you undress to your comfort level and lie between the sheets on the heated massage table. They will knock on the door to ask if you're ready before they return to begin your massage. Your therapist will provide appropriate draping at all times and only uncover the part of the body they working on.
During your session
You will be asked about pressure, temperature, and your overall general comfort. There will be relaxing music playing, unless you request otherwise, and the room should be quiet, with no outside distractions. Half-way through your massage you will be asked to turn over on the table with assistance from the therapist while maintaining draping.
Ensuring your wellness
Once your massage ends, the therapist will exit the room so you may redress. Your therapist will be waiting outside your room with a glass of water to help re-hydrate your muscles and reduce potential soreness. They will take this opportunity to share observations and discuss any future treatment session plans.
