Furthermore, she shares strong messages so her students deepen their awareness. She really believes that if we all work together, we can change the world for the better. Alex's classes are a mixture of alignment based yoga and vinyasa flow. Anne-Tyler Harshbarger
Anne-Tyler, E-RYT-200, received her Yoga Alliance certification from re:form YOGA in Carlsbad, CA. Her esteemed teachers are in direct lineage with the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya, who is known for customizing the practice to the changing needs of the individual. She is passionate about the benefits of yoga and it's philosophies and believes yoga gently wrings the body out like dirty water from a washcloth, not only in the physiological way of removing toxins and calming the nervous system but also in the more subtle emotional and energetic layers. Anne-Tyler has experienced firsthand that yoga brings to light the acquired patterns of the mind so that we might shed these false illusions of self as we blossom into our fullest expression. Formerly a professional ballet dancer for 16 years, she gained a deep knowledge of body awareness, posture, and balance, and an inner ability to live with grace in the midst of challenge. Her compassion for others has compelled her to share these insights. Also a professional DJ for the past 12 years, she loves to create a musical journey for the mat. Her classes are vinyasa based with an emphasis on breath, anatomical alignment, and intelligent sequencing, with the right amount of effort and ease, all while encouraging the exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, body and heart. Anne-Tyler is also the owner of her company Blossom Body Awareness, offering yoga, meditation, ballet and movement.
Ashley Faure
Ashley begun her yoga journey at the age of 19. In Hawaii while competing in Springboard Diving, she suffered a back injury. She initially tried yoga in order to help heal her back, little did she know she would grow such a passion for it. She continued her practice for 3 years then decided she wanted to share yoga with others and became a teacher to help students them through their injuries and help them be able to do all they want to do is what inspired her. Ashley is a natural born adventurer and loves to surf, hike, swim, and rock climb. If it weren't for yoga she wouldn't be able to do the things she loves, and is so thankful that yoga was brought into her life.

With a vast understanding about the therapeutic and mental benefits of yoga, Cecilia is ready and eager to share her studies with her students. Cecilia leads her students in a way that is both strong and supportive. Each class will incorporate principles of alignment, yoga philosophy, conscious breathing and meditation to ensure that each practitioner receives the very most out of her classes.
Chase Mccarthy
Chase recently received her Yoga Alliance certification as a yoga instructor in August and has already fallen in love with teaching! She had been practicing on and off since she was 5 years old, and has recently made yoga a more dedicated practice. Being one who likes to stand out and think outside the box, Chase loves bringing in new and unorthodox ideas when it comes to teaching yoga, whether that be through her teaching style, personality, or most likely her music. Chase has a deep connection to music and incorporates different styles and genres to further enhance the mood of her class.
Chelsey Adams
Yoga found me a few years after the demands and unknowns of mothering 4 children caused me to shut down and disconnect from my feelings, my children and myself in general. As a recovering control freak who began to realize I couldn't control anything, I felt as though I was moving through my life constantly terrified. On a whim, I started going to yoga classes and instantly knew that I had found what I didn't know I was looking for. Yoga helped me rediscover the joy, love and connection that is always available to me. My 200 hr teacher training was completed under the guidance of Trevor Hawkins and Lindsay Russo and focused on the therapeutic benefits of the breath and the idea that the yoga practice can be adapted to meet the yoga practitioner exactly where they are. My 300 hr advanced teacher training was completed in San Francisco with Jason Crandell who is known worldwide for his comprehensive knowledge of alignment, anatomy and sequencing. I truly see yoga as pathway to greater peace and contentment. For me, it has provided a place to leave my mindgames at the door, to be still and to remember who I am. Meeting myself on my mat reminds me to always see the blessings in trials, my innate divinity, and the freedom that comes from letting go.

Courtney is a former award-winning journalist and was born and raised in San Diego. She attended San Diego State University, where she was a cheerleader and dancer and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Dri Hoffman
I started to practice yoga and meditation when I was 16 years old. It was such a great experience that I haven't stop studying and practicing since… I have completed three teacher trainings. The first was Iyengar Yoga with Kalidas Nuyken in Brazil and Usha Devi in India, who was my inspiration as a Iyengar Yoga teacher. The second Teacher Training was Yoga therapy with Josef Lepaje in Garopaba, Brazil. After this course I integrated my degree in psychology with Yoga, and for 10 years I offered my services at my own Yoga Studio in Sao Paulo. I dedicated most of my work there to help people with panic attacks, stress, depression and anxiety. When I moved to the US, I completed the third Teacher Trainning in Encinitas with Ana Costa, where I had the opportunity to learn to teach in a second language. I love to teach at Mantra, it is here that I have the opportunity to share everything that I learned. I'm waiting for you in my class!!

The desire to find discipline and freedom within the body, Iejnno later found both through yoga. Introduced to yoga around the age of twelve, he then committed to his practice back in 2010 starting with Bikram Yoga, then discovered his true connection with Vinyasa Yoga in winter of 2011. The warmth of the community and support from the teachers guided him through a new journey, growing spiritually and finding his authentic self. After a 14 year romance with gymnastics, Jessica found yoga. At first practicing solely as a means to work the body, she continued the physical practice for 12 years before discovering the power of moving beyond the body and into the mind and soul. Her heart now reinforces that sharing her experience and empowering the world to Love, to Shine, and to Glow is her Truth.
Josh Blatter
Josh Blatter is a Yoga and Meditation instructor in Encinitas, CA. Josh is best known for his skillful use of language, understanding of the human body, subtle anatomy, and the ancient tradition to guide his students into the heart of Yoga. Josh believes that the real art of the practice is strongly rooted in our ability to bring the body and mind into balance. Josh began his studies of the Yoga tradition in 2006 shortly after arriving in San Diego from Boulder, CO. Initially he saw Yoga as a remedy for his many years of injuries from skateboarding, snowboarding and BMX, but his Yoga practice revealed something far greater. For the first time Josh found a language and set of teachings that mirrored the ways in which he was examining the world. This left him with a desire for knowledge and thirst for experience. Not long after, Josh obtained his first Yoga Teacher Certification and began instructing as a full time career. In 2012, Josh stumbled upon a lineage that would shape the course of his practice and teachings forever. It inaugurated an ongoing and in depth studies with Chase Bossart, a student of T.K.V. Desikachar. This immersion into the healing and therapeutic aspects of Yoga would eventually lead to his first extended stay in India and studies at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. His trip to India stoked the fire within that continues to keep the passion alive. Since then, Josh has had the opportunity to train with and learn with some of the most influential teachers. He has learned from masters of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. He has studied with experts of the subtle body, innovators of the posture practice and scholars in the ancient tradition, including Classical Yoga philosophy, Vedic chant and Sanskrit.
Kecia Lee
Kecia is a San Diego based yoga teacher, health nut, and beach bum. In the yoga studio, her infectious smile, warmth, and passion allow her to connect deeply with and inspire her students. After a highly accomplished career as a competitive soccer player, Kecia hung up her boots at the University of Minnesota and fulfilled her dream of moving to the warm sunny skies and salty sea of California. No longer motivated by maniacal fitness regimens, Kecia sought out a new source of vigor. In 2003, she found yoga and immediately began a dedicated practice. She was drawn to the state of peace that yoga offered through rhythmic movement, connection to breath, and disciplined focus. It was as if the whole world fell away during that sacred hour of practice; a sensation that she had never experienced before. Kecia's love for practicing yoga intuitively evolved into sharing yoga. Her classes are dynamic and at the same time thoughtful. She artfully weaves intention in and out of playful sequencing, creating a visceral and soulful experience for her students. Her devotion to guiding the body into healthy alignment and her ability to communicate with precision gives her students freedom to open up to their full potential. Kecia's classes aim to open the heart, expand consciousness, and find healing.

I teach to cultivate the same mental and physical power in everyone that yoga inspires in me. Yoga became a consistent part of my life ten years ago, but my natural inclination for teaching began at the ripe age of twelve, when my best friend and I started our own summertime dance and gymnastics camp. Since then, I have taught Spanish in high school, surfing to all ages, and yoga. My goal is for all my students to find strength, confidence and clarity by way of movement meditation. I believe that yoga can be a major stepping stone towards the discipline and motivation needed to pursue all of life's big goals. The feeling of community at Mantra is a core value that we share, and it is my intention to cultivate a sense of community inside and outside of the yoga studio.

Trevor Hawkins
Trevor came to understand the benefits and beauty of yoga while living abroad in Europe. As a travel guide and photographer, he spent the majority of his time in Spain guiding small group hikes into Pyrenees valleys, villages and castles, kayaking the cliffs, caves and coves of the Costa Brava and diving full force into the culture and cityscapes throughout Western Europe and North Africa. Through a natural progression of thought and being, he began to recognize the beauty and universal nature of people, space and motion. He began to inquire deeper into the connections of movement and breath through practicing Yin and Ashtanga yoga. After seven years, he decided to return to his roots in Encinitas, California and deepen his study. Through serendipitous connections and relationships with the amazing Yoga community in North County San Diego, Trevor began to expand his understanding of the philosophical, spiritual and physical teachings of Yoga. He has immersed himself in hundreds of hours of intense study and practice with emphasis in the Viniyoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Anusara, Kripalu Vinyasa and Yin yoga traditions. His ongoing study of Yoga as Therapy through Gray Kraftsow and the American Viniyoga Institute is bringing him to deeper levels of understanding and awareness regarding Pranayama, Mantra, Breath Centric Asana and their impacts on the physical, mental, emotional and the spiritual body. Trevor teaches locally and internationally and continues to bring his belief that a healthy body and a peaceful mind are the central reasons to seek and maintain a vibrant yoga practice. He brings great enthusiasm and passion to his teaching, guiding and sharing and blends his deep passion for life, culture, movement, art, music, food and nature seamlessly to create a safe, sacred space where the student can deepen profoundly into their body, mind, and heart.

Here is what some of our previous graduates had to say about Mantra Teacher Training:
Jenn Brennecke, Fall 2014
I am forever grateful for the Mantra Yoga & Juice Bar Teacher Training experience. I was able to focus on building strength and balance within myself, as well as develop relationships with my fellow trainees and the Mantra community which has become part of my family. My "day" job provides a living, and yoga provides a life – and a wonderful one at that. I would highly recommend Mantra yoga teacher training to anyone who wants to transform their life, find strength within their self, and share the wonderful power of yoga with others. It is an experience that has transformed my life in more ways than I could have imagined. My journey of growth through yoga has just begun, and teacher training was the first step.
Mary Ellen Jones, Fall 2014
Going through Mantra Teacher Training is definitely one of the best things I have done for myself. Through the training I learned how to teach a great yoga class, but that was definitely not my only take away. It offered a space to completely be me, no hiding, no faking, just the utmost authentic Mary Ellen. It helped me to shine light onto some of the darker places of my life and bringing new life and healing to those areas. Since the training I have had some pretty awesome experiences with healing in my body, mind, and spirit through my yoga practice. I would encourage anyone to go through a teacher training. Set no expectations and enjoy the ride!
Alex McGinness, Spring 2015
I was a part of Mantra's teacher training program in the spring of 2015. Our training was rightfully themed The Heroes Journey. For me, the heroes journey fully embodies the immense transformation I experienced during TT. I opened up. I blossomed. I became the truest version of myself, a person I had not been familiar with prior to this journey. Yes, I learned how to teach yoga in this program. But for me, it was so much more than that. It was about the wisdom I found, the friendships I gained and the immense amount of love I experienced from each and every person that was a part of my journey with me. I wouldn't trade my teacher training experience for the world. It is one of my dearest memories, a magical time in my life. If you're thinking of joining teacher training at Mantra, do it. I promise, you won't be disappointed.
Chuck Vadun, Summer 2017
Mantra's 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program promised to be a transformational experience, and it has more than delivered for me. Melissa Smith and her team of instructors have covered everything from the practical to the near-mystical: from anatomy, breakdowns of poses, and teaching methodology to yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, the Chakras and much more. I've already seen my life change for the better, on and off my yoga mat … gotten to know some wonderful kindred spirits … and I still have a few weeks more of YTT to go! So if you're planning to become a yoga teacher … or wanting to go deeper into your own practice … or just go on a fascinating journey of learning and self-discovery, I highly recommend Mantra's Teacher Training to you.
