In April 2015, Chef George Mendes (Aldea) opened his second restaurant, Lupulo, in Manhattan’s Chelsea/Herald Square district. Inspired by the famed cervejarias, or breweries, of Lisbon, Mendes drew from his heritage and travels to create a convivial neighborhood restaurant and bar, offering traditional Portuguese comfort food centered around a wood burning grill, and complemented by an extensive selection of craft beers. Thee space and menu at Lupulo are designed to allow guests to stop in for a drink and small plates, or enjoy a full leisurely meal. A raw bar and charcuterie station located at the restaurant’s central, wrap-around dining bar serves seafood, cured Iberico ham, and petiscos, or tapas-style bites meant for snacking. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, and offers a daily happy hour from 3-6pm.
