Duration: 5.5 hours; $65. The Laura Plantation -- once run by four Creole women, (most notably, Laura) has been home to many over the years. But now the grounds are home only to visitors who seek the remnants of the past. Cross the threshold of the front portico and you'll enter the harrowing history of slavery, viewing the quarters where humans were once entrapped into labor and hearing stories of all aspects of the plantation life. You'll also hear other facts about how the book "Brer Rabbit" was written on the grounds, and how The Laura Plantation was nearly destroyed by fire back in 2003 and rebuilt to its original design using materials from antique homes that had been disassembled and sold off into pieces.
