Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning. This is done by inserting hair-thin needles at very precise acupuncture points along meridians, which are energetic pathways in our body where Qi, or vital energy, flows. Just as a traffic jam may cause a buildup of cars leading to distressed drivers, a block in our Qi can cause illness and pain. Acupuncture helps to restore the healthy flow of Qi.

Arvigo® Therapy - Abdominal Massage

Abdominal Massage offering for all-ages and life stages supports digestive and reproductive health with a self-care centered approach to therapeutic massage. Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Cupping is helpful for many health purposes including managing pain, inflammation, blood flow, and muscle decompression. The suction is a form of deep-tissue massage releasing muscle tension by creating mobility between the skin, facia, and muscle. Sessions integrate cupping and massage for enhanced therapeutic benefit.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine consultations can help you understand how to integrate and use herbs, teas, elixirs, tinctures, and flower essences to nurture your health and well being. Our practitioners offer Western and Central American traditional medicinal herbal remedies. Consultations include one tincture or tea. Our products are often custom made for you with organic herbs at the time of your session from the Lotus apothecary or sourced from local, organic, and fair trade global growers.

Reiki Bodywork

Reiki is a specific type of subtle bodywork using light touch and energy movement. It is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Crystal Bodywork

Created over the millennia, healing crystals harness the life giving elements of the Earth and the universe. Crystal bodywork uses healing stones chosen at the time of treatment for specific purpose. The stones are placed on along the body and in your hands to harness the energetic power of the stones. In this technique the crystals act as conduits for healing — allowing positive, healing energy to flow into the body as negative, disease-causing energy flows out. The result is a feeling of deep relaxation, rest, and grounded sensation. It is ideal for stress management, addiction recovery, and post trauma/surgery metaphysical healing. Acupressure/Reflexology

Acupressure is a therapy developed over 5,000 years ago as an important aspect of Asian, especially Chinese, medicine. It uses precise finger placement and pressure over specific points along the body. These points follow specific channels, known as meridians – the same channels used in acupuncture. According to Asian medical philosophy, activation of these points with pressure (or needles) can improve blood flow, release tension, and enhance or unblock life-energy, known in China as "qi" or in the English-speaking world as "chi." This release allows energy to flow more freely through the meridians, promoting relaxation, healing and the restoration of proper function. Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points and areas on the feet, hands, or ears. Reflexologists believe that these reflex points correspond to different body organs and systems, and that pressing them creates real benefits for the person's health.

Peri-steam Hydrotherapy - Yoni Steam

Peri-Steam Hydrotherapy also known as Vaginal Steaming is a women specific service that uses organic herbs and water to gently steam this delicate area of the body. It is ideal for women wanting cleaning postpartum, healing after trauma, aides in fertility, eases menstrual issues, and facilitates deep detoxification and cleansing of the body. Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming, is a practice in which a woman allows the warmth of herbal steam to permeate the exterior of her vagina to treat gynecological symptoms, postpartum and help regulate menstrual cycles.

Pediatric Massage

From infants starting at 5 weeks to teenagers this therapeutic massage offers education to parents and care givers on how to integrate touch for connection, cognitive development, and coordination from the start of life. Its foundation on self-care centered massage offers teens and young adults the skills needed to calm, focus, and center the mind while cultivating a healthy body image connection. Parents/caregivers remain in the room or close by while certified pediatric practitioner offers massage methods and breathing techniques for body-mind connection in your child.

Access Consciousness BARS

A specialized energy based bodywork session activating the higher consciousness of "BARS" for deep relaxation, mind-body healing and consciousness development. It is believed that there are 32 bars of energy that run through and around your head that connect to different aspects of your life. We call all of the points you touch when using this modality "The Bars." They store the electromagnetic component of all the thoughts, ideas, attitudes, decisions and beliefs that you have ever had about anything. There are Bars for healing, body, control, awareness, creativity, power, aging, sex and money; 32 different Bars in all. If you change the energy of your Bars, you change the manifestations of that energy in your life. When you are functioning from preconceived notions about what is and isn't possible in life, and have a rigidly defined point of view of how the world works, you cannot be aware of anything that doesn't agree with that. Each fixed thought, idea, attitude, decision or belief that you have in place solidifies the energy and limits your capacity to change anything in that area. You change the energy, you change how that part of your life shows up. One of the most simple and easy ways to change energy is to get your bars touched! Abigail McClam, BA, LMBT, ATMAT, CPMT

Abigail shares her experiences, knowledge, and skills with others as a Holistic Massage Therapist, Certified Arvigo® Therapy Practitioner of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®, Advanced Pediatric Massage Therapist, Lotus Co-Op & Education Coordinator, and owner of Lotus Healing Centre. She holds additional advanced studies and certifications in Ayurvedic Massage Therapy, Infant Massage Education & Advanced Pediatric Massage, Pre/Post Natal Massage in the Wise Woman Tradition, Neuromuscular, Athletic Injury Prevention Training, Reiki, Trauma Release & Somatic Therapy, Acupressure/Cupping in Five Element Acupuncture Tradition, and Wisdomwell Embodied Living Skills Practitioner Level Certification. She has served on the PGA Men's Golf Massage & Training Team of Kiawah Island, Orlando Men's MLS League, Charleston Mountain Climbing Group, Charleston to Boston Marathon Runners, Charleston CrossFit, and the US Military Endurance Sports Triathlon Team. Abigail's diverse client base of children and adults challenge her daily, empower her compassion for others, and encourages her to continue to serve, practice and study massage therapy, holistic health & mindfulness based practices. As a Columbia, South Carolina native, Abigail finished her intensive Massage Therapy program and decided to return to her beloved Charleston, SC to open her own practice (formally, One' Respe' Wellness Center). She has since spent the last eight years living in Charleston, dedicated to studying integrative massage therapy, hosting/practicing/teaching mindfulness based classes, and creating a collaborative, community based, Holistic Health Cooperative now named LOTUS Healing Centre in downtown Charleston, SC. Her passion for massage therapy, mindfulness meditation and integrative holistic medicine came from her personal lifelong struggle with chronic pain. As a child, she experienced multiple surgeries to repair damage to her hip caused by an infection contracted shortly after birth. As a result, she dealt with over 18 complex surgeries to help repair the damage to her legs. Her experience with medicalized emotional and physical trauma due to surgery and chronic pain throughout childhood and most of her adult life has been what she recognizes as transformational. Abigail's personal journey with chronic pain has served as a source of inspiration, heartbreak, and enlightenment over the last thirty years. Abigail believes "Chronic Pain has been my greatest teacher on how to live life with instead of against pain" Abigail's unique opportunity to learn about her body, pain, and adaptation at a very early age has lead her to a better understanding of herself and others. She attributes her ability to shift her perspective on pain to learning the art of Massage Therapy, receiving regular Acupuncture, developing a meditation/yoga practice, honoring her body's limits and language, and embracing both Holistic and Western health care systems.

Jenny Karns, L.Ac., FABORM

Jenny Karns received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Kansas before earning her master's in acupuncture and certificate in Chinese herbal medicine from the Academy of Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Fla. She is licensed as an acupuncturist by the Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners, and nationally board certified to practice acupuncture (NCCAOM Diplomate). She completed her advanced clinical studies in acupuncture and internal medicine with senior medical doctors at Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China. She is also a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM.) The ABORM certified practitioners have demonstrated competency and advanced knowledge in the field of both Western and Eastern Reproductive Medicine by passing a rigorous advanced certification examination. Jennifer Byrne, MPH, CAP is a nutritionist, herbalist and a NAMA-Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (CAP). Jennifer received her Master's degree in public health from Emory University, which led her to Africa and South America- where she spent 10 exciting (rajasic) years designing and overseeing health programs for the CDC and other institutions- before returning to her hometown of Charleston, SC to tackle nutrition and childhood obesity in the public school system for another 4 years. Ashana Jones is a healer and a lifelong student of the art of healing. While I am currently studying Sai Shakti soul level healing techniques, I've already completed a plethora of other healing modalities. In addition to being a licensed Massage Therapist with specialized training in Prenatal Massage, Labor Massage, Postnatal Massage and Cupping Vacu-Therapy; I am a Master Level Reiki practitioner, Access Consciousness Bars practitioner, professional Birth Doula and Vaginal Steam Sauna facilitator (V-Steam). I am very passionate and truly have a heart for seeing women healed, healthy and whole. I suffered for over a decade with debilitating endometriosis. After numerous surgeries (over 5), my doctor refused to operate on me anymore, saying that he feared causing more damage than good because of all of the scar tissue surgery leaves. I suffered for YEARS after that. I spent too much time closed off from my young children in my bedroom, curled up in pain because of the severe cramping caused by the endometriosis . Vaginal steaming was introduced to me at a Korean Spa I used to frequent to receive Chai Yok (V-Steam) as well as other self-care measures. As I researched the Asian herbs for a vaginal steaming, I stumbled across information on how it was traditionally done in Africa where they call it Yoni Steam. Mindfulness education classes, group gatherings, events and workshops are held monthly and may include yoga, meditation, nutrition, and other topics and conversations in holistic wellness. Our intention in teaching mindfulness is to empower individuals, cultivate conscious awareness, transform suffering, and create body-mind ease in a compassionate learning community.
