A new burrito restaurant is open in Covington. Gina Puopolo is both chef and proprietor of Lime Taqueria, a gourmet burrito shop housed in an historic building with a bright green front door at 522 Main Street.
Lime’s menu is unique and innovative, along with a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Guests will find items that include Burritos with Jamaican Jerk Chicken with cucumber, watermelon and pickled jalapeno salsa, Braised Beef with mango pico de gallo ($6.50) and Fish Tacos with pickled red onion and cabbage ($7.50). Vegetarian offerings include Black Bean and Tofu burritos. She also provides a $5 lunch special every day during the week between the hours of 11 and 2 that’s just a bit more basic.
Gina was looking to open a concept that would provide good quality food at a reasonable price. Lime was the concept that she has developed over the last year. Gina has been in the culinary field for well over ten years. She is a graduate of the Midwest Culinary Institute of Cincinnati. Among other places, Gina has served as Sous-chef at The Palace, a four star restaurant in downtown Cincinnati, Bouquet in Covington, and was the chef at Vito’s Cafe in Ft. Thomas. She loves haute cuisine, but for her own business she prefers the quick, in and out idea of burritos. Lime is open for lunch and early dinner and on the weekends the hours are extended until 3 a.m. for the Main Strasse bar crowd.
