Our first espresso bar opened in the early Winter of '93. We started roasting coffee in '96. This was originally done in our Fort Valley location with a small batch 24-kilo Diedrich roaster but within about five years we grew to the point where it had to be moved. The roastery is currently located at 1071 E. Old Canyon Court, Flagstaff, Arizona 86001. We are now using a Diedrich CR-50 roaster with automation controls for profiling (recipe roasting!).
Since the Fall of '09 we have been packaging our coffee beans in 10oz. custom printed steel cans. Mostly, we roast. But canning is becoming a larger part of our operation as mail order customers from all over the country are catching on to its benefits.Late for the Train was founded in 1993 by David Dobrick in downtown Flagstaff. The original café location on N. San Francisco Street is still in operation. It is known to be a hangout for locals and returning visitors alike. The espresso bar is small, but the shots are up to par with any, anywhere in the world and the atmosphere is friendly and bustling.
