this september at larte del gelato, we offer one of the most beloved italian desserts, transformed into a gelato treat. tiramisu, which means "pull me up", is made of lady fingers dipped in espresso, layered with a whipped mixture of egg yolk and mascarpone and a hint of marsala wine. though these elements are rich and robust, their combination makes for a surprisingly light, yet satisfying dessert, guaranteed to lift your spirits!
We met each other working as cutters in the diamond district of New York City. Both lovers of Italian culinary tradition, one day our thoughts and appetites lead us to the same notion, to bring the best artisanal gelato to New York City. We both loved the idea and filled with enthusiasm, we left our jobs. Our quest took us to Italy, the source of traditional, classic gelato. We searched for the best artisans of gelato making from Sicily to Venice and we found masters who shared with us, the secrets of their fascinating craft.
Coming back to the big apple, we opened our first gelateria, L’Arte del Gelato, in the renowned Chelsea Market. After a little more than a year, we opened a second place in the West Village. A third location was established on the plaza of the venerable Lincoln Center.
