KUPEL'S OPENED IN 1978, at the original site of Bagel King. It took two years of renovations, and a lifetime of savings to start the bakery.At the start, business was slow, while the owners, Allan and Diane Kupelnick, built their reputation for quality products. It took about two years before things really got going, and although they thought of producing donuts, decided to focus on bagels instead. Lots of different bagels , all hand made, all of the time. They also produced breads, birthday cakes, and pastries, but the emphasis was always on bagels and being kosher.
