The King George IV Inn is a 200 year old (circa 1790s) "Charleston Historic House". The House is named the "Peter Freneau House", after a prominent Charleston journalist and co-owner of the Charleston City Gazette. Freneau was also a merchant, shipowner, and Jeffersonian politician. He lived in the house for many years. Located in the heart of the Historic Shopping and Dining District it is a one minute walk to King Street shopping and restaurants and a five minute walk to the Historic Market.
