In 1916 Phyllis Sadowsky's family moved here from Poland opened and operated a butcher shop for the next fifty years. Phyllis married Fred and in 1952 they started their owned family business in Wallington. That business a small bar and grill called the the "Evergreen". They served good food and reasonable drinks,... Now 3 generations later the tradition still continues. Fred and Phyllis were the first in this area to hand cut and serve an open faced sliced steak dinner. Today we still serve our famous sliced steak dinners along with our melt in your mouth sizzling steaks. Although we no longer serve Freddie's thin crust pizza we still serve his original sauce on our mussels. In Freddie and Phyllis's day Wallington, one square mile, had 52 bars and restaurants and was actually once in the Guinness's World Book of records. Although most of these corner establishments are now gone our family business is still serving the neighborhood. Jose the miner bird has been with us for all of these years, and is still with us behind the bar. Family operated, P. Bunyan's Steak House serves all hand-cut sizzling steaks, daily fresh seafood along with rib eye cheese steaks and 1/2 lb. burgers. We serve only fresh fries which are always cooked to order. Also our famous "fall off the bone" ribs (a rack and a half) are an excellent choice!!!
