Established in 1987 by Harry Lewis and Marilyn Lewis, Kate Mantilini was an original concept of what was then the Lewis family owned Hamburger Hamlet. The Lewises were the founders and operators of Hamburger Hamlet from its inception in 1950 until it was sold in 1987. Prior to 1950, Harry was a contract player with Warner Bros. during the 40?s and acted in many films amongst which was the classic Key Largo with Humphrey Bogart and Edward G Robinson. When the original Hamburger Hamlet opened on the Sunset Strip, Marilyn waited tables and Harry cooked the burgers. 37 years later and 23 additional restaurants, they sold the Hamlets but kept Kate Mantilini. The family brought their famous attention to detail, recipe perfection and gracious service to Kates and carried on the tradition since then.
