Our dad made these in the 1960s! Layered croissant dough shaped and cooked like a donut and filled with a dulce de leche filling, then topped with light vanilla icing or banana cream filling that's rolled in granulated sugar and topped with Nutella. It takes 4 full days to prepare the dough for our kronuts!
