Group classes meet Tuesday/Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Please note that the beginning of each new 4 week session does not necessarily correspond to the beginning of the calendar month. We will be on an "end of summer" holiday during the last week of August, from 8/27 through 9/2. During that time there will be no regular classes; our regular class schedule will start the first week in September, with our first classes back on Tuesday, 9/4.
*The Basic program consists of 3 sections of Argentine Tango classes–A, B, and C.
Up to 3 classes per week at the 1 class per week price, a savings of $105! New students may simply register for one Basic Course and then come to as many Basic classes as you like during the 4 week session of registration.
1 Course (1 Class Per Week for 4 Weeks)$100.00
2 Courses (2 Classes Per Week for 4 Weeks)$165.00
3 Courses (3 Classes Per Week for 4 Weeks)$205.00
4 or More Courses (4 or More Classes Per Week for 4 Weeks)$225.00
College students with valid, current ID who have completed the Basic program receive a 20% discount on all 4 week courses at the Pre-Intermediate level and up.
The same discount will be available to all members of the theatrical and film unions (AEA, SAG, AFTRA, etc.) as well as professional modern/ballet/jazz dancers who currently work with a recognized company/production.
All classes are 55 min. long.
All class fees are non-refundable.
Admission to all upper level classes (Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, or Advanced) is by teacher permission.
Make up for missed classes may be taken within the same 4 week session of registration as the missed class at a comparable level to the class for which you are registered.
Make ups may not be carried over into future months.
All registrations in JBTA include the practice sessions at no additional charge.
Drop-in students may attend the practice during the week of class attendance at no additional charge.
All Deals and Vouchers are for new students (first time to JBTA) only.

Jeni Breen is one of the most experienced professional teachers of Argentine Tango in New York. Twenty five years ago Jeni and Sandra Cameron set to work to develop what became New York City's first program dedicated to teaching classes in Argentine Tango, and she has continued to train in, and to investigate the dance, with some of the world's leading Tango professionals. Jeni originally trained as a modern dancer and received a degree in Performance/Choreography from California Institute of the Arts before moving to New York City to dance in the contemporary dance company Donald Byrd/The Group. She eventually left the company to work as a choreographer for plays, musicals, operas, and films throughout the country. Researching one such project lead her to a life changing visit to the Sandra Cameron Dance Center – one of New York's leading Ballroom Dance studios – where she discovered her passion for partner dancing and particularly Argentine Tango. Jeni joined the teaching staff at SCDC and also served as the director of both the Argentine Tango and Salsa programs. She has taught extensively in the NYU Undergraduate Drama Program at Playwrights Horizons Theater School and the Lee Strasberg Professional Theater Program in NY; the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass; and the Theater Program at Washington University in Washington, DC among others. In addition to founding the Jeni Breen Tango Academy, Jeni is currently a "Renowned Mohonk Star Instructor" at Mohonk Mountain House, Conde Nast Traveler's #1Resort Spa in North America.
Matthew Liam O'Toole
Matthew Liam O'Toole is admired throughout the NYC Tango community for his classic social Tango. His dancing is distinguished by an elegant, comfortable embrace supported by clean and musical footwork. Matthew began social dancing in Europe and discovered Argentine Tango while living in San Francisco. With a background as a classical, country, blues, and rock musician as well as a trained athleticism Matthew found in Tango a way to combine his artistic passions into a style that is unique and yet deeply embedded in the classic tradition of Argentine Tango. Matthew is well into his second decade of teaching Argentine Tango. He has taught in some of the country's finest dance studios, including the Sandra Cameron Dance Center and Dancesport in Manhattan, and Metronome Dance Center in San Francisco.
Fall is in the air, bringing with it the excitement of a new and festive season fraught with possibility.
Welcome Argentine Tango into your life and discover the many ways in which participating in this beautiful social dance can enhance your life through cooperative fellowship and creative self expression.
