Every Saturday we pick 7 names that go on the VIP Board. The deal is - when a customer comes in for a drink, their name is written down on a ticket and placed in a bowl. On Saturday, we take those tickets and pluck one for each day of the week. Their name goes up on the boards in the bar. If they come in to drink on that day/night, whatever they drink is $.50 off. If they drink an already discounted libation such as a Bud Light on Happy Hour, that is combined with the deal. So, their drinks will be $1.00 off during HH.
I do not have a kitchen. I allow people to bring in food, order food (in fact, many times my bartenders will call in orders for the customers). There is a Little Caesar's Pizza joint across the street, a McDonalds directly across the street and a "mom and pop" pizza/sandwich little restaurant next door to the Circle K. I also have a RANCH MARKET across the street in a COSTCO center. We can get delivery from a mediocre Chinese restaurant and a couple of other places. I have a vending machine, pickled eggs, jerky and microwave popcorn!!! Also sell a lot of TUMS!!
We have 2 pool tables, 2 video game machines and 1 dart machine. The juke box is not an internet juke box but I have a girl that makes compilation CD's from customer requests and from the latest on the "hit list" and it rocks the little house called Jay's most of the day and night!
Since we can not smoke in the bar anymore, smokers can go out to our small back patio with their drinks and hang out. Many also like to go out front (no drinks allowed however) to see what is happening on busy Indian School Rd.
I always grill burgers and dogs/brats for the summer holidays and bartenders/customers bring in all the sides, etc. We are known to have one of the best "pot luck" spreads ever put out...Seriously. They happen probably 6 or 7 times a year for a variety of reasons. My people can create some fabulous dishes! We also occasionally make breakfast i.e. biscuits and gravy, sausage w/ scrambled for early morning weekend customers
