The Recreational Trimix Program covers the use of Recreational diving mixes in the range of 28 to 40% oxygen with Helium. The program is designed to provide recreational divers with a breathing medium for extending their dives to deeper depths by using an Equivalent Narcotic Depth between 40 to 80 fsw at depths up to 130 fsw.
Advanced Recreational TriMix
For many technical divers nitrogen narcosis is just accepted as part of performing dives to depths beyond recreational diving limits, but it doesn't have to be! The Advanced Recreational TriMix course trains divers on the use of TriMix to a depth of 160 fsw with a END of no more the 80 fsw. Through the use of TriMix gas blends divers will experience the same mental clarity at 160 fsw as they do at 80 fsw. With a clearer head response times to situations at depth are decreased resulting in a safer and more enjoyable dive experience. Imagine how much more you'll see and remember on your dives without the mental "fog" of nitrogen narcosis.

During the program we'll use a variety of educational systems to better understand about a variety of physical disabilities and how they relate to scuba diving. Through simulations and workshops in the Pool and Open Water you learn how to overcome some of the problems you may encounter when training physically disabled divers, including methods to assist those with sight impairment, hearing impairment, spinal injuries, amputations, etc. We'll demonstrate how to adapt and modify normal diving equipment to the needs of the disabled diver, and review products that are available to help with your programs. Overall, candidates will learn to become more aware of the students, their needs, attitudes, and limitations, while at the same time learning how to develop foresight in logistic, site selection, and special considerations.
Adaptive Scuba
There is no joy greater than sharing the magic & beauty of the underwater world with those less than able around us. IVS has handicapped training programs for divers, non-divers and professionals alike.
Adaptive DSD
A unique program developed to introduce the scuba experience to non-certified special needs participants meeting minimum age and health requirements. This program is conducted in a pool only.
Advanced Adaptive DSD
Indian Valley Scuba's Advanced Adaptive Discover Scuba Diving program allows qualified individuals to expand the scuba experience from the pool to an actual open water dive. Designed for non-certified special needs participants meeting minimum age and health requirements. Instructor discretion applies.
Surface Support Partner
Designed for participants who choose to not enter the water or otherwise do not meet the requirements for in-water training, this program provides an opportunity for participation as a surface support partner, assisting with logistics, gear handling, and other important duties to support divers in the water.
Adaptive Confined Water Diver
Confined Water Diver is a certification level for use in pools only. This certification is for those who enjoy the challenge, exercise & fun of scuba diving but are unable or do not desire to explore the open water.
Adaptive Sport Diver
The IAHD Sport Diver course provides candidates with the necessary knowledge and skill required to dive safely in an open water environment under the direct supervision of an IAHD-certified Scuba Instructor. Sport Divers may dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet.
Adaptive Open Water Diver
The IAHD Open Water program is supported by the PADI system of diver education. We follow the standard PADI format, through academics, confined water, and the open water checkout dives. The key difference being that the diver is unable to comply 100% with PADI standards, and as such cannot qualify for a PADI certification. However, that does not mean the diver cannot dive; it means that the diver can in fact dive, and dive well, provided that additional IAHD-certified divers, qualified as IAHD Dive Partners, accompany the Open Water Diver.
Adaptive Advanced Open Water Diver
During the Advanced Open Water Diver Course the certified Open Water Diver will learn more diving skills. The course focuses on open water dives and only short sessions of academics. A minimum of 5 dives are required before certification. There are no compulsory dives. Together with your Instructor you can make your own program. The same Dive Partner level designation applies as in the Open Water diver program.
Dive Partner
The first level of dive partner training focuses primarily on the logistics and support that a trained IAHD Dive Partner can provide. From assisting and supporting, confined water training session support, to escorting IAHD divers on Open Water dives, the role that a Dive Partner fills is key to the overall effectiveness of diver training through the IAHD system.

Adaptive Diving Programs
Indian Valley Scuba proudly supports the International Association for Handicapped Divers (IAHD)
Adaptive Scuba Training
Indian Valley Family YMCA Adaptive Scuba Sundays
Rotors to Regulators Program
Scuba Boy Scouts of America Program
Indian Valley Scuba is proud to offer Scouts an opportunity to participate in the Scuba BSA experience, for qualified Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and Scouters.
Scuba BSA introduces qualified Boy Scout, Venturing, and registered adult participants to the special skills, equipment, and safety precautions associated with scuba diving, encourages aquatics activities that promote fitness and recreation, and provides a foundation for those who later will participate in more advanced underwater activity.
The Scuba BSA experience contains two parts Knowledge Development and Water Skills Development.
During the first part, participants learn basic dive safety information and overview skills to be used during their water experience. The Water Skills Development session introduces essential dive skills, such as mask clearing, regulator clearing, and alternate air source use.
The Knowledge Development is held in our classroom facilities, and the Water Skills Development portion of the program is scheduled at a local YMCA or other available pool.
Upon request, it may be conducted at a similar location of your choosing.
The Scuba BSA program is a SCUBA experience, not a certification program...
...and thus you are not certified to dive after this program, however, if you're a Varsity or Venturing Scout over 14 years old and choose to go on to an Open Water certification program after this, you may receive credit for the skills you learned in this program.
Classes conducted year-round, call the shop to schedule yours!
Scuba Parties!
Imagine yourself weightless, like an astronaut, underwater doing sommersaults, handstands and swimming through hoolahoops.
This is how your child can feel having a scuba experience at their next birthday party. Your child and their friends can jump in the Y's indoor heated pool, put on a scuba unit and blow bubbles with one of our trained professionals! Bubblemaker parties are a great way for the young (minimum age 8 years) and the young-at-heart (no maximum age limit) to celebrate a birthday, special occasion or just try a new activity. You can reserve time to enjoy scuba diving or snorkeling in the YMCA's pool.
The Birthday Party Scuba Experience includes instruction and introduction to scuba diving by trained professionals, reserved pool, and equipment use.
Up to four participants may be in the pool using scuba at any time, and the rest will enjoy swimming and having fun while they wait their turns to get under the water!
What happens during a Scuba Birthday Party?
The instructor will collect the release forms and medical waivers from each participant. After watching a short informational video (7 minutes) and reviewing safety information, the participants will be fit in masks and fins. All of the scuba gear is assembled prior to the party to maximize your pool time. With an attentive group, the presentation and fitting usually take about 15-20 minutes depending upon the size of the party. The presentation and fitting are part of the scuba experience and are, therefore, included in your party time. Once in the water, the instructor will make all of the necessary adjustments for the participants, teach the participants some scuba skills, and then allow them to explore the under water world. We can customize parties to suit your needs.
Each participant (or their parent/guardian) will need to complete and sign a Discover Scuba Waiver and Medical History Form prior to participation.
If a "YES" is checked for any medical question, a separate waiver must be signed by a physician. Medical waivers will be provided upon request. Participants on scuba units are limited to 4 to 6 at a time. However, we do allow other participants to snorkel and swim at the same time.
