It was legendary flats guide Bonefish Willie on the island of Bimini in the Bahamas who first triggered Johnny Morris’ admiration of Ernest Hemingway and his great literary works. As a youngster, Johnny fished the Bimini flats with Bonefish, who had also been a long-time fishing companion of Hemingway’s. Johnny was enthralled as Bonefish recounted his adventures with Hemingway as they had pursued the “gray ghosts of the flats.”
