About Us
Hal & Mal's was conceived by brothers Hal and Malcolm White in the 1970's as a family business in downtown Jackson. The dream was implemented by Hal, Malcolm and Vivian Pigott Neill in 1985 in the (circa 1923) GM&O freight depot building where the business still operates. The multi-functional, southern-soul soaked rooms are adorned with memorabilia, local character and a stage for live music in each. The restaurant serves a steady offering of hearty regional staples with a nod toward the Gulf of Mexico and our cultural mecca of New Orleans. Between the backwoods of rural Mississippi and the brackish bayous of New Orleans, the White brothers spent their formative food and beverage years, before setting on LeFlure's Bluff to hang out their sign. Today, the White family still owns and operates the most talked about, upscale honky tonk in all of Mississippi. Here, art is made, music is played and locals gather to share community and celebrate the very best of Mississippi's creative spirit. Welcome to our corner of the universe.
