Back in the early 1900's, a young Polish immigrant named Isador Goldberg arrived in New York with a carefully guarded secret recipe for the world’s best bagels. Soon after, he opened a little bagel shop on the Lower East Side and began baking Goldberg's original old-world bagels.
Today, when people nostalgically refer to a great New York bagel, this is the bagel they remember–the perfect size, the perfect crunch, and the perfect texture. Naturally, Goldberg’s bagels are boiled before baking, and they’re created with the finest quality ingredients. Each bagel is lovingly crafted with the very same recipe that Isadore Goldberg brought with him from the Old Country. Isadore’s son moved the bagel store to northern New Jersey, where Goldberg’s bagels expanded and grew in popularity. Now, almost 60 years later, Goldberg’s bagels are becoming the favorite with people all across the country.
Here in Baltimore is a modern version of Isadore Goldberg’s original bagel shop. Our store may be a little more modern, and our equipment is now state-of-the-art, but the bagels you are about to eat have been baked from the original recipe that has been kept a secret for three generations.
