First and foremost, our thoughts go out to those families who have already been affected by the coronavirus.
It is a worrying time for everyone but one where we must come together and help each other.
At Ghirardelli, our purpose 'Makes Life a Bite Better' is there to guide our decision making in good times and challenging times.
We are thinking about our employees, our consumers, our partners and our communities. It is clear that we need to do the right thing to support the most vulnerable people in our company and community and try to manage our business.
Safety remains our number 1 priority and we made the decision beginning March 18th to close our Ghirardelli retail stores across the country until at least the end of March.
All store employees will remain on full pay through this time. In our corporate offices, everyone who can work from home will do so. In cases of essential services, we have a plan in place to increase social distancing and minimize risk.
We will continue to monitor the situation daily and listen to advise from experts.
This manages the short term, and we are now working through what plans we need to support our employees and partners as we think about the longer term.
