Gentle Yoga
an exploration of alignment of yoga postures (asanas), meditation and breathing in a calm, peaceful environment to tap into our peaceful internal guidance. relax, play, get strong, get centered, and learn coping mechanisms to combat a busy modern life by immersing yourself in an ancient technique.
Yoga 1
this class is designed to introduce students to anusara's universal principles of alignment and energy loops and spirals. the emphasis will be on standing poses, while introducing the basic genres of yoga postures, including beginning backbends, hip-openers, and supine poses. students will leave feeling more confident and grounded in their bodies as they work to systematically stretch and strengthen their hamstrings, hips, backs, and shoulders. this level is appropriate for students without any prior yoga experience, and for students new to anusara.
Yoga 1.5
this class creates a bridge between foundations and mixed/intermediate level classes. it begins where foundations leaves off by exploring the universal principles of alignment in greater detail and introducing a wider range of standing poses, hip openers, backbends, handbalances, and beginning inversions. this level is appropriate for students who have some general yoga experience or students who wish to move beyond foundations, but are not yet ready for mixed or intermediate level classes.
Heart Centered Hooping
this class focuses on using the hula hoop to inspire creative play, heart-opening, and healing, while developing aerobic stamina, strength, balance, and rhythmic awareness. this class is for all levels, suitable for beginning as well as advanced hula hoopers. it will incorporate elements of dance, hatha yoga, qigong, and walking meditation. the session will explore the foundations of hula hooping movements with a focus on hooping from the core & expanding out to the periphery. students will enjoy the fun, fast-paced, low-impact, aerobic exercise that hula hooping is while engaging & toning all parts of the body, mind, & spirit.
We are pleased to announce that beginning this Monday, October 3rd, we will be teaching a few classes at the Glen Eden Community Center on Glen Eden Drive in Raleigh. We have been working hard to pull this together and are excited to start rocking out some Anusara in this new space --- which is a very nice room with big windows that look out at the forest, it's like doing yoga in a tree-house!
