Dog Daycare Rules
To ensure the safety and health of all animals and staff at The Four Paws, we require all clients to comply with the following Rules and Regulations.
Please note that you will be asked to sign a copy of these rules as part of the registration process.
All dogs must be spayed or neutered (unless they are under 9 months of age).
All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations and flea prevention to be admitted to daycare
please bring a copy of your shot records prior to their stay. Owners must submit written record, prior to evaluation, that their dogs have current DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccinations(two weeks prior to admission). The specific vaccines required are Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Para influenza, Parvovirus, Rabies, and Bordatella. It is your responsibility to provide on-going verification of current vaccinations.
All dogs must be healthy.
Parents will need to certify that their dogs have been free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize other guests. Dogs that have been ill with a communicable condition in the last 30 days will require veterinarian certification of health to be admitted or readmitted. If, at any time during care, a dog is noticed to have fleas or ticks, treatment will be applied and charged at the owners expense. All dogs will be examined for signs of fleas and ticks at check in and will not be admitted to day care if fleas or signs of fleas or ticks are noticed. This "spot check" is not a foolproof process, therefore, we highly recommend a flea and parasite preventative, excluding fleatick collars.
All food brought to The Four Paws Resort must be stored in an airtight container/bag labeled with your dog’s name.
All dogs must pass a behavior assessment in order to attend The Four Paws Resort.
These are scheduled Monday-Thursday evenings by appointment only. They must be nonaggressive nor food or toy protective. Any dog that has previously harmed or shown any aggressive or threatening behavior towards any person or any other dog(s) cannot attend The Four Paws Resort. Remember, your pet will be spending time with other pets, and the safety and health of every dog is our main priority. Keep in mind, although it is supervised play, your dog might still acquire an occasional nip or scratch.
Dogs and puppies of all ages are allowed at The Four Paws Resort, as long as the dog/puppy meets our criteria.
Puppies may begin daycare before they receive their Rabies vaccine and before they are spayed/neutered, as long as both are taken care of by nine months of age.
All dogs must have a complete, up-to-date, and approved enrollment form on file. All Forms Must Be Signed By Parent Before Enrollment.
Fees are due and payable at the end of each day.
Cash, check, Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted and the Golden Buckeye Discount is offered. Discounted packages are provided only if they are paid in advance. Pre-paid packages are nonrefundable. Our program is flexible enough to accommodate reasonable special needs requests.
About
Our goal is to give our guests and their owners a stress free experience.
We know it is very stressful for everyone when they go out of town and even more so when they have to board their pets. We also, understand that it's stressful on the dogs because they are in a new environment and are surrounded by strangers.
In most boarding facilities the dogs are left in metal cages all day and all night except to go for a 5 minute walk a few times a day.
This is exactly what we do not want to happen! We want to provide the dogs with a loving, comfortable, and fun environment. Where they will have love and attention all day from our staff and will be able to play and socialize with other dogs or lay on the furniture and watch tv just like home. Our resort is also all inclusive, we do not have extra charges for walks, playtime, or giving your pet his medication.
Boarding and daycare clients will interact throughout the day. So it is important for us to meet with each client and their parents prior to their stay.
Owner
Ami Cooksey has always been an animal lover and very passionate about their care and well being. Over the years she found herself volunteering to take care of pets for family and friends while they were traveling. In 2003, she realized that there was a definite need for boarding in a "loving" environment and decided to start a small business boarding dogs from her home. After several years of running her boarding business, she realized there was a greater demand than she could fulfill from her home business. In 2006 she co-founded The Four Paws Resort and in 2010 she became the sole owner of the business. She has 5 animals of her own: Phoenix a Greyhound she adopted from Team Greyhound, Max a Dachshund and Chanel a Standard Poodle, and a Paso Fino horse named Vanidad. She currently fosters Greyhounds for Team Greyhound of Ohio, helping them find their forever homes. Ami has completed her Certified Pet Technician I through the PCSA in 2006 and continues to stay educated on pet topics by attending seminars every year.
Groomer
Kelly Hornsby is our groomer. She grew up on a farm in Unionville Center and went to Fairbanks schools and she studied Small Animal Care at Tolles Career Center. She has 3 dogs of her own: Cloud, Comet and Paris. She is working towards becoming a Master Groomer with hopes of competing.
Our staff prides themselves on treating our guests as we would want our own pets to be treated.
When you have a job you love it makes everything worthwhile. This is a job we love and it shows as each client, four legs or two, walks through our doors.
At Four Paws, we know that your pets are part of the family, and we make them part of our family while they’re here—whether they come for a spa day, a day of play or spend a whole vacation with us.
We offer boarding, day care, and grooming. Our facility offers cage-free boarding and all-day play, with a resting period in the middle of the day to avoid over-stimulation. Our daycare and boarding clients interact throughout the day in our facility and in our fenced play area.
