I was raised in Mt. Prospect, Illinois and currently reside in Libertyville. I am active in the local community, serving as a medical speaker to the Greater Libertyville Soccer Association (GLSA) and as the team physician for Grant High School in Fox Lake, Illinois. My greatest areas of interest are foot and ankle problems, fracture care and general orthopedics. My training includes:
Subspecialty fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Harbor UCLA Medical Center and Balance Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center.
5-year orthopedic residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois
Undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University, where I was a member of the six-year Honors Program in Medical Education.
This program allowed me to complete my undergraduate and medical school education in six years instead of the usual eight years.
Mini-fellowship in trauma and fracture care - AO North American Trauma and Fracture Care Travel Preceptorship, Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Surgical Procedures
In addition to completing a rigorous orthopaedic surgery residency
I received subspecialty training in the area of reconstructive surgery for complex foot and ankle problems. These challenges can include arthritis, deformities, chronic pain, diabetic foot deformities, flat feet, bunions, and neuromas.
As a foot and ankle doctor
I care for many sports- related foot and ankle problems including heel pain, ankle instability, sprains, and tendon injuries, using state-of-the art techniques, including ankle arthroscopy.
Total ankle replacement has offered hope and a remedy for some patients suffering from painful arthritis of the ankle joint.
I have completed training in using InBone and STAR total ankle replacements.
Some Procedures Performed
Total ankle replacement
Ankle arthrodesis/fusion
Posterior tibial tendon reconstruction
Peroneal tendon repair
Ankle ligament repair and stabilization
Achilles tendon repair
First MTP fusion
Hammertoe correction
Bunion/Hallux valgus correction
Calcaneus fracture care
Fracture Surgery
Fracture care is another large part of my practice. I am often able to treat many of these without surgery, using various casts or braces. When necessary, I repair fractures using the most current surgical techniques and methods, including plates, rods, screws, external fixators, and bone stimulators. Examples of fracture surgery I perform include:
Calcaneus fractures
Ankle fractures
Wrist fractures
Knee fractures
Hip and Femur fractures
Forearm fractures
Humerus and shoulder fractures
Foot fractures
Common Conditions
I also perform arthroscopic procedures of the knee on a frequent basis. While I am an orthopaedic surgeon, a significant percentage of orthopaedic problems can be treated medically, without surgery. Common conditions that I see and treat in my office include:
