My Training Philosophy
I believe training your dog should be fun for both you and your dog.
Learning how to understand dog language is key to properly communicating with your dog. Obedience training will create a stronger bond and happier relationship you can both enjoy.
I have loved dogs all my life and have found their behavior fascinating.
I first became a Dog Groomer and did this for the better part of 16 years. When I had to end that chapter of my life due to carpel tunnel, I decided to take my interest of their behavior in the next logical direction - and so became Dog Essentials LLC.
I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College and an ABC Certified Pet Dog Trainer (ABCPDT). I am a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
Consultation
This initial consultation is about 1.5 hours, at which time we will discuss the following:
Your goals for your dog
I evaluate your dog and determine the best training program for you
I give vital information with basic manners for your dog to get you started and headed in the right directio
Some topics discussed
Bonding Techniques, House Training, Basic Manners, Socialization/Techniques and Why It's Important, Jumping, Pulling, Barking, Puppy Mouthing and Biting, Running Away, Separation Anxiety.
Obedience
* Basic Obedience is a requirement for Advanced Obedience.
Basic Obedience
This is a one hour session each week for approximately 6 weeks (depending upon the program we set for you). In this time I will teach you to teach your dog: Sit, Down, Sit/Stay, Down/Stay, Loose Leash Walking, Heel, Come.
Advanced Obedience*
This is a one hour session each week for approximately 6 weeks (depending upon the program we set for you). In this time I will teach you how to proof your dog's new or old skills both on and off-leash. Everyone wants a dog that listens off-leash. I will show you how!!
