Mary Ann Hartung Voigt was the youngest of 3 children born to a first generation immigrant family that originated in Hungary. Her mother was widely known as a wonderful cook. Hungarian cuisine is well-known as being ingenious, flexible, imaginative, and full of flavor. Hungarians are known for their love of life, love and food...perhaps in reverse order!
Even as a young child, Mary Ann took a special interest in her mother's creative cooking. There never seemed to be a recipe - just a dash of this and a pinch of that. Soups, a specialty at Dockside Deli, are nearly always a bit different. No one knows the precise amounts, but it is always a creative and delicious combination.
