Derry Hegarty’s Irish Pub opened in 1972, just a few years after Derry arrived in the United States from Ireland. He was born and raised in County Cork, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States with his brother, Joe, in 1965. Derry is a strong and consistent supporter of Milwaukee’s Irish Fest and the Milwaukee Irish community. Derry also enjoys baseball, and he is delighted that his bar’s location is in such close proximity to Milwaukee County Stadium and the new Miller Park. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Derry’s Pub was frequented by many members of the Brewer’s organization, and the bar was also home to the Darrell Porter Fan Club. Today, Derry and his clientele continue to be strong Brewer supporters, with customers receiving free rides to all Brewer home games on Derry’s Paddy Wagon.
