About Us
In the spring of 1946, Dan Trop, a young college educated WWII veteran from upstate New York , moved out west to Southern California . Having worked at his uncle’s ice cream company as a young man, he learned a great deal about the ice cream business. Dan was captivated by the warmer climates out west and envisioned the possibilities of mobile ice cream vending and the success that it could bring. Dan started his business in San Bernardino , California with just a handful of motorized carts. He eventually purchased over 30 new and used trucks and converted them all into ice cream trucks. He also called some of the ice cream manufacturers he knew and started purchasing amounts that were unheard of at the time, literally becoming his own company. Families were now able to enjoy tasty treats delivered right to their doorstep. At that time he had no idea that he would be part of the largest revolution in the ice cream business.
