Kristen Jeanes-Moody - (Owner/Artistic Director)
Dance has been Kristen's life since the young age of three. This year marks her 30th year of dance and her 16th year teaching. Kristen received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from The University of New Orleans in December 2002. Kristen has taught at many different dance studios in Louisiana and Arkansas. She has previously taught for Chateau Estates Elementary School in Kenner and St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie. Kristen prides herself on having won many first place and high score awards both regionally and nationally in all divisions of dance. She was awarded the title of Petite Miss Dance of L.A. by the Louisiana Association of Dance Masters in 1990 and also named Miss Teen Headliner of L.A. in 1994. In addition to her awards, she appeared in Chevy Chase's movie "Fletch Lives", was a member of the Delta Festival Ballet's Youth Group, and was a captain for Mount Carmel's Carmelette Dance Team. Along with teaching Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Ballet, Kristen also teaches West Coast Swing Dancing. She began teaching with her husband & dance partner, Shawn Moody, in 2000. The have have been teaching, competing, and performing together on the National Swing Dance Circuit for the past eight years.
Harmony Acain - (Instructor)
Harmony Acain's extensive ballet, jazz and lyrical background of 32 years includes an impressive array of contacts that compliment her qualifications. Her studies have led her to New York's "Broadway Dance Center" and, while living in Los Angeles, to the "Edge Performing Arts Center." Harmony has appeared in televised commercials for Burger King and Soundtrack Audio, performed in industrial shows for major media establishments and has performed at the "Alpha Awards." Harmoney's fast paced, award-winning choreography is greatly sought after. She is currently on faculty at six dance studios in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Stephani Kammer (Hip Hip/Contemporary Jazz Instructor)
Stephani Kammer is excited to enter her seventh season with DP and resides in New Orleans as a professional instructor and choreographer. After earning her Bachelor of Performing Arts degree from Oklahoma City University Stephani began her professional career in New York appearing in regional theaters, industrials, and prime time television. Upon relocating to Los Angeles Stephani performed alongside many famous recording artists such as Gwen Stefani and Jay Z, but most notably Janet Jackson. She has appeared in several videos and TV performances with Ms. Jackson and served as Assistant Creative Director to Gil Duldulao on Janet's Rock Witch U world tour. Stephani has been an Associate Choreographer for the Miss USA & Universe pageants for the last five years including the most recent 2012 Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas. Stephani is very active in the professional dance industry and had the honor of performing in the Michael Jackson tribute on the MTV Video Music Awards after his passing. In recent years she has been inducted into The Cambridge Who's Who Among Executive & Professional Women for her many years of hard work and dedication to the arts. Stephani has taught internationally in Tokyo, Japan at Broadway Dance Center and traveled to over 65 countries educating and inspiring dancers all over the globe
Denise Oustalet - (Ballet Instructor)
Denise Oustalet received a BA in Education and has achieved critical acclaim as a performer, choreographer, and master teacher. She performed as a principal dancer with Delta Ballet, Santa Fe Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and Dallas Ballet. She has been recognized by: the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, La. State Arts Council, NOCCA "Distinguished Mentor" and Gambit's "Big Easy" award. She was the architect and director of the NOCCA dance department for 25 years and a consultant for performing and creative arts schools in the United States and Canada. Her expertise includes classical ballet, pointe, flamenco, modern, and jazz dance. Some of Denise's students now appear professionally with Atlanta Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Alvin Ailey, David Parsons Company as well as on Broadway and international touring companies.
Megan Jeanes - (Jazz / Hip Hip Instructor)
Megan has been dancing since the young age of two. She received her teacher's certificate from Dancer's Pointe in 2006, the same year that she graduated from Cabrini High School. This marks her 4rd year teaching at Dancer's Pointe as a Hip-Hop and Jazz instructor. Currently, she is majoring in Business at Southeastern Louisiana University. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, hanging out with her family and friends, taking pictures, and working out. Megan has taken all subjects of dance, but Hip-Hop is her favorite. She is looking forward to another great year teaching her students at DP!
Amanda Frischhertz - (Instructor)
Amanda is thrilled to be joining the Dancer's Pointe faculty for a third season! She is currently a senior at Louisiana State University and will be receiving her BS in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology in May 2015. Amanda has extensive training in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop and served as a member of DP's award winning competition team for four years where she won the Elite Dancer award from West Coast Dance Explosion. Her professional dance experience thus far includes backup dancing for Nelly and Florida Georgia Line in the 2014 Miss USA pageant, performing with Beyoncé in the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show, and appearing in numerous music videos for local New Orleans artists. Over the past two years she has also choreographed award winning competition pieces for the Jesuit Jayette's dance team. Amanda has found a great passion in the art of teaching dance and choreographing. She loves to inspire young dancers and share her passion for this art with others!
Brittney Gleaves Peay - (Instructor)
Brittney Gleaves Peay has recently graduated from Utah Valley University in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance Education. While pursuing her degree she has danced on Synergy Dance Company, a student directed company on a Modern Dance Performing Scholarship. While being on Synergy she has had the opportunity to work with many professional choreographers and has had many performing opportunities. Brittney believes that dance is a way of life and is the most pure way we express ourselves. Throughout her life she has trained in numerous genres of dance including ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, tap and ballroom. She has earned many team and solo awards at local and national competitions. Her choreography has recently won high point overalls at local competitions. Most recently she had the opportunity to travel to Scotland, and London with Synergy Dance Company to teach young dancers and train at different institutions. Brittney is excited to begin teaching at the elementary/secondary level and in studio dance for many years to come. She is excited to begin her new adventure in New Orleans, as she continues her education and teaching. She plans on earning a Masters of Fine Arts and looks forward to influencing the lives of the youth with her passion she has for dance.
Tes Savoie - (Instructor)
Tes Savoie began dancing at age 2 and has danced for over 30 years; working as an assistant teacher through high school and college. She holds associate's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Culinary Arts. After working for many years as a pre-school teacher and chef, she has decided to devote her time to teaching and working in the office at Dancer's Pointe. This will be her 7th year as a mother of two at Dancer's Pointe and her third year teaching. She is looking forward to another wonderful year!
Jesse Egan - (Instructor)
Jesse Egan is joining the DP faculty for the first time this season. He has been performing for over ten years in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. Jesse has been seen in performances at Le Petit Theatre, Rivertown Repertory Theatre, and Harrah's in Las Vegas. Jesse now resides in New Orleans where he teaches at several studios throughout the city.
Donte D. Phillips - (Instructor)
Donte D. Phillips, Los Angeles native, has been working classically and commercially for more than 10 years. This year he has started his own company "Dstruck," where artists can tell their stories and share their craft. Donte has been a two time Lester Horton Award nominee for best male performance and dance ambassador for the United States in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo. He has appeared in Angelino Magazine and Dance Spirit Magazine as one of LA's hottest male contemporary dancers. Donte has held principal roles with the City Ballet of Los Angeles and guest appeared for Luminario Ballet. He has served as an assistant choreographer for "So You Think You Can Dance" and choreographed for international music videos. Donte is very grateful to do what he loves every day and looks forward to an exciting year of dance here at DP.
Taylor Thomas - (Instructor)
Taylor is a native of Vicksburg, MS and received training at Debra Franco's Preparatory School of Dance. She continued onto Ole Miss and graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management and a minor in Theatre Arts. There she helped develop Hinge Dance Company and Ole Miss Student Dance Company. Her professional experience includes being a cast member of the nations' longest running outdoor drama, The Lost Colony, in Manteo, NC. Taylor resided in New York City where she trained at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, and Alvin Ailey along with interning at The Joyce Theater.
Ashton Turberville - (Instructor)
Ashton was born and raised in the small town of Semmes, Alabama. From the young age of three her love of dance began. Ashton attended Melinda Leigh's Performing Arts Center until she graduated high school. While at Melinda Leigh's School, Ashton danced in Company for ten years and also served as an instructor for varying age groups in hip hop, tap, ballet, and acrobatics. After graduating high school, she attended The University of Southern Mississippi and attained a degree in Dance Performance and Choreography and Child Life Therapy. Her primary performance specialities are modern, contemporary/lyrical, tap, and jazz. Ashton currently works full time for Ocshner Health System as an Information Services Clinical Trainer. While she enjoys working in the medical industry, Dance will always be her passion. She is excited to be apart of the Dancers Pointe family.
